Try a different input source and see if that works

SOURCE: Sony KV-36XBR250 - no picture, good sound

This is a common failure mode (which I now share), and has nothing to do with the picture tube or surge protection. From the forums I have searched to-date, it appears to be a failed component in the flyback circuitry, but Sony will not admit to an inherent defect. If anyone has ACTUALLY FIXED this problem, please post a reply. Guessing won't help anyone. Thanks.

Hi,

Your receiver is the Denon AVR 2105 and not the Sony STR-DG510 5.1 Channels Receiver?

SOURCE: blinking picture

TV Repairman came out today to look at my Sony KV-36XBR250 today with the exact same problem - he was able to adjust the settings through the service menu, but said it was a temporary fix only.

The picture tube is going and the Sony circuitry has a "video mute" that it uses when it senses the tube is not warmed up enough. The degraded state of the tube causes the blinking on and off as the signal from the tube wavers.

He ballpark estimated the tube replacement cost well above the price for replacing the set with a 37" LCD, so it's going to the dump...

SOURCE: HDMI port does not work on the KV-30SH420

I dont have a TV with HMDI input but i do have a computer moniter. To change i have to press a button that changes from VGA to HDMI. My computer supports HDMI and when i tried it, it works. Try looking in your manual for a way to switch input methods.

Sony KV-36FV1 TV/INPUT Problem

Your TV has "Setup" function button on its front panel. By this button, you can enter its input selection window. Before testing this, check all the interconnections once more. Download its user manual. If you feel any difficulty in downloading it, send your email address to me and get a copy of it back by return mail. It has all wiring illustrations. If wiring is correct, it should accept the DVR signal.

No picture or sound when powered up. Red Standby light flashes continually. My Sony KV 36 XBR250 Wega Trinitron XBR is about 10 years old and has worked perfectly up to this point. What could be the...

Did you get your set fixed or did you replace it? My same set did the same thing. Turned it off for 2-3hrs after watching it and when I tried to power it up- nothing but the sound it would normally make just before the major power up, sort of a relay click sound. No picture or sound but the red light blinks non-stop.

Now have verizon Fios and cannot get DVD player to play

Check the connection cable. If the Verizon box and the DVD player are connecting to the same TV input, ensure that the Verizon fios box is connecting to DVD input, and DVD output is connecting to TV.

If you connect DVD out to Verizon box input, and then TV , you will have to turn off the receiver box to see DVD.

If you use only one TV Input connect Verizon output to DVD input and DVD out to TV.

If instead you use separate inputs on TV, then try using the source/select input button on TV remote, and try different cables.

No Sound

sounds like you are using componant cables.[ red, blue, green on the right side in back of the cable box for the picture, & red & white cables for the sound.] make sure the red & white cables are connected to the middle white & red outputs of the cable box to the tv's red & white inputs, not outputs. hope this helps.
