The power up test sequence has detected a key in the operated condition. The power up test

sequence is performed every time the unit is turned on (powered up). This test is performed

because a permanently stuck key will inhibit the correct operation of the unit.

Possible Causes

1. A key on the display housing is permanently stuck in the operated condition.

2. One of the upper PCA's keypad interface chips has failed.

3. Liquid (perhaps perspiration) is present on the surface of a touch sensitive display.

Possible Remedies

1. Remove the keypad connector cable from the upper PCA. Restart the power up sequence, if

the ERROR 5 is no longer present, the keypad is the cause. The keypad is typically part of

the display housing. Replace the display housing to correct the problem.

2. Remove the keypad connector cable from the upper PCA. Restart the power up sequence, if

the ERROR 5 is still present, the upper PCA is the cause. Replace the upper PCA to correct

this problem. Most upper PCA's are provided without software. Therefore, the software (chip)

must be removed from the upper PCA being replaced and re-installed on the replacement

upper PCA.

3. Wipe the surface of the touch sensitive display clean of all liquid. Restart the power up

sequence, if the ERROR 5 is no longer present, the liquid was the cause.

6. When successfully completed, TIME/PACE display will show CAL PASS.
7. Press POWER. Your treadmill is ready for use
tip

How to reset/recalibrate your treadmill after replacing drive or incline motor,...

Make sure you recalibrate your treadmill after installing ANY controller, motor or console. You can NOT over calibrate your treadmill. You want to make sure you adjust your pedometer for the correct operating speed and incline adjustment. First plug in your treadmill, do not stand on the walking belt. Hold down the "Stop" and "Speed +" key and insert the safety key or magnet, let go of the two keys. Now press "Stop" key once. This puts you into the level 2 of calibration. Press the "Speed +" key slowly until you see 85 on the console, (at this point the display is going to show the percentage of motor usage and also the actual walking belt speed) at 85% motor usage your top speed should be between 10 and 10.5 MPH or (of 12 and 12.5) depending on the treadmill. You must know your treadmills top speed. (Important the motor may be damaged if you set the maximum speed higher than the maximum speed that your treadmill is made for). If the speed is higher than 10.5 or 12.5 then you need to turn the potentiometer down to the correct level. The adjustment is made with a phillips screwdriver, and the adjustment point is on the motor controller. It is a little square metal box with a yellow plastic adjustment screw inside. If the speed it to low you need to turn the potentiometer higher. Once the speed is correct you are done calibrating the speed. Press the (-) speed key to lower the percentage to (0). Next press the incline (+) button, this will make the incline motor go all the way to the maximum incline and come all the way down to the level position. Then remove the safety key and the treadmill will reset into the normal manual mode. Double check that the treadmill is operating at the correct speed and incline motor works correctly, by running maximum settings. Once you are done, be sure your treadmill is properly protected from surges from power spikes that can destroy the work you just performed.

Hope this helped.

I have a Proform 1026 EXP treadmill that began running at full speed whenever it is turned on. The incline controls function normally but the belt speed is incredibly high. When set to 1.5 MPH (the slowest...

The Steps for Newer Style Console Calibration
1. Locate the calibration area on the rear or underside of the console (a hole, near the console's center, that goes through to the electronics board. (This hole should not have a screw in it.)
2. Insert a pencil (eraser end), into the hole and feel around for the cal button (will click when pressed).
3. Press the button 2 times (with the pencil eraser). The first click should show CL11 in the console, the second click should show CL21.
4. If the process was done correctly, and CL21 appears in the console, you are in "calibration mode." The next few steps consists of pressing buttons on the console and observing settings. This will not require any other tools.
5. Press ENTER. CL22 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.
6. Press ENTER. CL23 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.
7. Press ENTER. CL24 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.
8. Press ENTER. CL25 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.
9. Press ENTER. CL26 should display in the TIME window. You should then see the letter "E."
10. Press ENTER. You should see "SS" or "55" in the console.
11.Push the STOP/START button. For safety, at this point, you should step off, or be off, the treadmill.
12. Push the ENTER button. The walking belt should start to move, accelerate to maximum speed, then stop on its own.
13. When the belt stops, the incline should self test by raising to its highest incline position, then lowering back down to its lowest position.
14. Once the incline test is complete, push the POWER button 2 times. The unit should shut off and the console should go completely blank. If this happens, the treadmill is done calibrating and is ready for use.
If the letter "F" appears in the SPEED or INCLINE window when the power button is pressed 2 times, the treadmill is indicating a failure somewhere either in the SPEED or INCLINE (depending on the window the "F" appeared in). Troubleshooting the failure would be the next step.

My tread mill stop working i have green light in the electonic board 5 small light not on

You need a new controller board. You can check your manual for how to order replacement parts. It will not be available on the New Balance website. It will actually be from an off-brand treadmill manufacturer that made the treadmill for New Balance.

When standing on treadmill, if incline # ie:5 is entered, bed raises, pauses, then lowers back down while #5 continues to be indicated. this occurs with all incline #s but not a problem if I'm not sta

If your incline is not working it can be a few different things.
1)There may not be any signal from the console which could be a damaged cable tight the flexible cable vs keypanel( spray too with contact cleaner spray) vs display board.
2) the console itself has failed :tigh the connector comming to lower board (main motor controller board).
3)The motor control board may have failed from a worn treadmill belt and deck(exchange it) Test if the Voltage with DVOM is there present 120VAC
4) the motor may have burnt out Test the motor with 120VAC.
5)also a potentiometer geared to the motor so the console knows what height the incline is at ADJUST IT.
6) the gearing can slip, giving the console false information which can cause chassis damage FAULTY.
12_7_2011_6_27_57_pm.gifNow with the block diagram you will have strong resultant for determine what is wrong. This I did for people like you, and to know how the main motor board controls functions by 90% aprox of any treadmills. sincerely.

Treadmill powers off when pressing Incline Increase "br 1" error

You may have a beltand deck problem. Test by the following procedure:
without the poweron stand on the walking belt, push the belt in the, direction it normally turns. If the belt is very difficult to turn (on most treadmill this means that you have high belt/deck friction I first apply silicone lubricant between the belt & deck to see if that clears up the problem. Most problems originate from the belt and deck 75 to 85% of the time
