When I turn my Rio Forge on it immediately goes into "Upgrader" mode. I am able to reinstall the firmware, but when it's finished installing, the message "restarting" appears on the screen. Problem is, it never restarts -- it just stays in that mode until I turn it off. When I turn it back on it's in the "upgrader" mode again. I would be most appreciative of some help!
Yes, let it fall on the floor once, it will start again hopefully, but be careful not to break it.
Mine does the same thing. Smash it on the dashboard three times then try to turn it on. After about thirty smashes(or ten trys) it will turn on. this is tough to do while smoking and drinking coffee so be careful. Try it sober first.
I've had problems resetting my Rio Forge and found on their website this method which has recovered my Rio many times. Pull the battery out and leave it out for several hours, if it still doesn't work, leave the battery out longer. This discharges all internal voltages (BTW, if you are careful, and somewhat "tech-y", you can speed this up if after pulling the battery out, you carefully put an alligator clip across where the battery was). But don't damage the Rio's battery clips!! Rio Forge Support website: http://www.sonicblue.com/support/rio/product.asp?model=265&SKU=90260558
Look for a small pinhole to reset the device..to bad RIO did not provide a way to "go back" in case of failed firmware

Thanks. I can't find a pinhole on this model, but I appreciate the suggestion.
