SOURCE: bobbin case retainer popping out on Singer Touch & Sew 625

Take the bobbin case out. Then when you go to put it in, realize there are 2 ways to get it. You have found one way. The other way is first look in the the slot with a flashlight before you insert it. There is a flat piece of metal the bracket needs to be slid under as it is inserted. This acts like a spring making it tight

SOURCE: bobbin case is popping out, and machine is birdnesting

Usually when this happens the bobbin is in wrong, replace it make sure the thread is going out the right way, make sure there is no lint or small pieces of thread around or underneath the bobbin area. Make sure you thread it with the foot up. Also make sure you are usng the right bobbin for the machine. They can easy get mxed up.

SOURCE: The bobbin case on my Singer Inspiration 4210

From what I gather on other sites, your thread has to be threaded under tension.... You have to make sure you hear a click when your bringing your thread down to the bottom of the "arm". Also, I thought the bobbin case was rather loosely held in its place, I adjusted this by unscrewing the black plate and moving it over just a smidge. The bobbin is supposed to have some wiggle room, but it kept popping up and making the tiny adjustment seems to have done the trick....for now...

unscrew the black plate that holds in the bobbin case and move it over to the left just a little bit, but make sure there is still clearance between the lower right corner of the case and the plate. The case should be able to wiggle a little, but not so loose it can pop out..

SOURCE: how do i replace the bobbin case in singer machine

When you insert the bobbin case, make sure the "knub" on the bobbin case (#1) is just to the left of the position finger bracket (#2). It should sit in there nicely and you should be able to spin the hand wheel freely.

Problem with the stitching pattern on a Singer 9117

In my reply, I'm not allowed to use the word s___w, so I'm going to call it a device.

Take your bobbin case out, and you will probably see two tiny devices on the side of the case. One is a Phillips device, and one is a straight-slot device. You want the straight-slot one, and it's probably on the left. This regulates the bobbin tension. In tightening or loosening these, the rule is "righty-tighty, lefty-loosey." In your case, you want to tighten it, so you would turn to the right. HOWEVER don't do that more than 1/4 turn at a time. Then TEST both with a zigzag and straight stitch before you tighten it more. It's much better to approach it patiently and methodically -- if not, you can make things worse instead of better.

Model 9117. Why won't it sew?

Remove all the thread. Raise the presser foot BEFORE threading the upper thread so it will seat properly in the tension disk. Confirm with the manual that the needle is inserted facing the correct way and verify that everything is threaded correctly. Somewhere I read to use only Singer needles in Singer machine--don't know if that's true, but...

Also appears that this machine takes a special bobbin:

There could be a knick or burr somewhere that is catching the thread. You can test it by lightly rubbing an old pair of pantyhose on areas (under the needle plate) and see if it catches anywhere. If the knick is not bad, you can try to smooth it with a fine emery board. Otherwise, could require a replacement part.

If you can, observe the stitching mechanism while you hand-rotate the handwheel and see if you can tell where the thread is hanging up. Hopefully you will be able to see where the machine is failing to operate.

My needle will not go down all the way. It seems like something is stopping the wheel form progressing all the way down to complete a stitch. I have a Singer 9117.

It sounds like you might have thread wrapped around the take up arm or it has jumped time you can check that by removing the needle plate cover and the bobbin case and checking to see if the needle is hitting the hook

I have a Singer 9117. The lower thread keeps bunching. I have tried taking the bobbin case out and putting it back in. I have also tried rethreading the machine. Do you know what else I can do?

Hi, I have the very same problem with my 9117DV. Which I paid 300.00 for 2 years ago. It sews great when it works but for some reason it will bunch up and jam right in the middle of my sewing project.
I have the exact same machine in an older model and I have never had this problem.(which prompted me to get another).
The only solution I have to offer is take it to an authorized Singer dealer or sell in on eBay which is what I am doing!!!
