You haven't said which BB you are using or what you have tried already so I'll give you a general answer - if it doesn't help, please let me know and I will suggest something else.

From your computer, go to either your service provider's web site or to www.blackberry.com and find the most recent software for your BB model. Install the software onto your computer. Then connect your BB. Depending on your model, you may automatically be asked if you want to update your BB. If not, find the icon to update your software (you might be able to just sync the BB with your computer but that doesn't always work). Once you have updated your BB software, you should not have any problem adding new applications. Note that some applications can be downloaded directly to your BB; others have to be downloaded to the BB Desktop Manager on your computer and the uploaded to your BB. The application instructions should tell you which way to do it.

  10. Click Next.
  11. Click Finish to begin loading the BlackBerry Device Software.

I get this: App error 205 / reset - Hour glass keeps running. I removed the battery several times.

If it is application error then follow these steps: Warning: You should not install a version of BlackBerry Device Software that is earlier than the version installed on the BlackBerry smartphone. Doing so could cause the BlackBerry smartphone to malfunction. Before proceeding, make sure that the latest version of BlackBerry Device Software is installed on the computer by completing the following steps: Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Click Help. Select About Desktop Manager. Click the Device Software tab. Verify that the BlackBerry Device Software displayed is the latest version currently available from the wireless service provider. Warning: The following procedure will delete either all data, or all data and applications on the BlackBerry smartphone. Back up the BlackBerry smartphone data before proceeding. To perform a clean installation of the BlackBerry Device Software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.1 to 4.3, complete the following steps: Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Double-click Application Loader. Click Next to start the installation process. Type your BlackBerry smartphone password, if prompted, and click OK. Select the check boxes next to the names of the applications you want to load, and then click Next. Click Advanced, and then select the check boxes beside Erase all application data and Erase all currently installed applications . Click Next. Select the check box next to Do not automatically backup the application data during the loading process (if prompted). Clear the check box next to Backup and restore applications installed wirelessly (if prompted). Click Next > Finish. When the process has completed, the message The loading operation was successful will appear. Click Close to return to BlackBerry Desktop Manager Note: BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.3 will display the Delete all application data and Delete all currently installed applications check boxes in step 6 of the above procedure. To perform a clean installation of the BlackBerry Device Software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.5 and 4.6, perform the following steps: Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Double-click Application Loader. Click Add/Remove Applications. Type your BlackBerry smartphone password and click OK. Select the check boxes next to the names of the applications you want to load. Click Settings, and then select the check boxes beside Delete all application data and Erase all currently installed applications. Click OK. Click Next > Finish. When the process has completed, the message The loading operation was successful will appear. Click Main Menu to return to BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Note: The Delete all application data and Delete all currently installed applications options are not available when using the Application Loader in BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.5. A workaround for this issue is to use the Application Loader standalone file by performing the following steps: Open My Computer (or Computer in Windows® Vista?). Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. Run the Loader.exe file and follow steps 3 through 9 above to complete a clean installation of the BlackBerry Device Software.
