How do I change the belt? Do I have to twist the belt.

You do not have to "twist" the belt.
You should be able to find your answer at this URL:

Look at the users guide for information on changing the belt. I would suggest that while you are changing the belt, also take time to clean the beater brush, you have to remove it anyway to change the belt. Clean the brush as best you can and add some WD40 to both ends between the brush and the small plastic pieces that hold it in place with the vacuum.

The bar brush does not spin. I opened the vacuum head and the drive belt to the bar brush is loose. I don't see how you remove the slack from the belt.

you have to have it in the carpet setting in order to put pressure on the v-belt. there is no way to tighten up the v-belt, but i would try to replace the big flat belt. if you haven't changed this belt in over 6 months, i would change it. ( on average belts need to be changed every 6-8 months). the reason is that the belt streches over time and doesn't have enough tention to ingage the v-belt in order for the brush to work. hope this helps

I changing the belt

Hi,

Not sure why you claim clutch belts cant be changed because they can.
The DC04 DC07 DC14 all use the same clutch unit if you cant get the belts from your local vac repair shop look on Ebay they are on there.
The special tools are torx screwdrivers & if replacing both belts you will require circlip pliers.

How to replace both belts in manual form can be found here http://dysonmanuals.llc.nu/index.htm

I can't change belt
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Not knowing the brand name and model number for the vacuum but I can give you a generic way of changing the belt. You 1st need to remove the bottom plate by screws, levers or clips, then you can get @ the belt, if not then you should remove the top cover and then you can get @ the belt. 1st remove the belt from the brushroll and install the new belt on the pulley side of the brushroll and then use a belt puller or a screwdriver with a bend on the end and then stretch the belt onto the motor pulley and then track the belt in a straight line so that is running in a straight line. Replace the bottom plate and the belt change should be done. Please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area.

So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

How to change Vacuum belt?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Not knowing the name brand or model # most vacuums belt change from the bottom or by removing the top cover to change the belt for an upright, if you have a bottom plate remove the bottom plate and remove the belt, make sure the brushroll spins free and does not have any thread or hair buildup, once that is done slide the belt onto the brushroll pulley and then stretch the belt onto the motor pulley, once on the 2 pulleys then tract the belt and replace the bottom plate – plug in and turn on to check. If you have the type where the top cover comes off it is then the same procedure listed above for the brushroll and belt. If you have a canister with a powerhead there are 2 or 3 screws on the bottom and the top cover would come off and then follow the procedure just like the upright. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

No belt

There are two screws on the top side just behind the Brush housing. Remove these two screws, one on each side, and the top plate can be removed. Then you can follow the directions above.
Hope that helps.
