SOURCE: audio output not working
I had what may have been a similar problem and even talked to Westinghouse to see what I was doing wrong. Woman suggested there was a problem with the audio output port and suggested I exchange tv for another one. When the new one had the same problem, I discovered that to get audio out requires the volume to be turned way up on the tv (set speaker preference to external only if you don't want sound from tv speakers as well). If you have a digital optical connection on both the tv and the home theater, the sound output is independent from the tv setting and is easier to work with.

This is a backlight or inverter (power supply for backlight) failure.
These parts may be availble. The backlights are difficult to replace. If not careful, you will break the LCD Material of the LCD Panel when replacing backlights
SOURCE: LCD TV has power but no picture or audio
one or 2 blown capacitors in the power supply
you will see the dome tops where they vented
Testimonial: "Yep, took TV to Belmont electronics and they repaired the power supply. TV good as new! Thanks Dave. "

I have the same problem - its a HDCP handshake issue. Sony says the firmware in the Westinghouse TV needs to be updated - Westinghouse says that they have firmware updates for some models depending on your TV's serial number, otherwise they are working on firmware updates for the rest of us that should fix the problem. Call Westinghouse to see if you can get updated.
SOURCE: Westinghouse LTV-32w4 HDC - adjustment buttons unresponsive, volume drop, etc.
plug your cable connection to a vcr "in" then run a seperate cable cord from the vcr "out" to your television (which should be on channel 3 or 4) depending on your vcr setting and use the vcr to control the channel so when your westinghouse freezes and becomes unresponsive you could still change the channel and so on through your vcr and tv acts like a monitor works for me.
N.B be sure to set the volume and so on before it freezes which could be like a 1min window from turning your tv on
