TV UNDER WARRANTY & NO RESPONSE FROM DEALER JAN.6,2009

I bought a 51' Sony rear projecting TV with an extendable warranty which expires 2/5/09.I bought it from Rex Stores, ClintonIa. On 12/7/08 the set stopped working and I phoned the Rex Store and was told they would Fax the info to their Insurer to get he paperwork going. I have been stopping at the store every Mon. Morn. and getting an ongoing story about howRyan Spooner,mgr.is chasing this dowm, he fired 2 TV repair firms and they have not been able to find a repair firm to work with them. today is 1/5/09 How do I get my set repaired?Bob from N.W.Il.

Hello,

All too often, extended and third party warranties are not honored as they should be. Some are even totally worthless. The general plan of a lot of third-party warranties is to hold the customer off until the warranty expires, and then deny it. If this was an extended warranty through the Rex store, then consider talking to a lawyer as soon as possible. One letter from an attorney may be all it takes. Or even the threat of going to an attorney is enough some times. It is a legally binding agreement that expires, so once it is up, they will almost certainly deny your claim.

Almost all extended warranties have a time frame for repair, and more specifically replacement! If they cannot repair the TV within a certain amount of time, then they should replace it.

we bought our Sony Wega in 2006 - we changed the bulb twice both times they exploded; we threw this tv out one month ago - sorry but its literally GARBAGE! within the first year the optical block went, then the replacement under my extended warranty that optical block was defective-within a month all the purple hues started showing up again - warranty over - never will I purchase a 4,000 tv nor any sony products ever again! the only good product I ever liked of sony was the Walkman!

Sony bravia kdl52xbr2 problem

hi,hoping that the cable connections are right(check the cable connections once again)..... Sounds like you may have a problem with the video driver boards? I would call up the store where you bought it and ask for a new set or service on this one.
More than likely this is a bad display (lcd screen) the drivers in the lcd display have some problem...... the tv is just a month old so you are still under the warranty period....... just contact the sony outluet where you purchased or the manufacturer for servicing of tv

Sony has issued a "Blue Dot Warranty" which is an extended warranty to fix this particular problem on select models. Contact sony.com to see if your tv set is still under the same warranty.

Pink line at top after bulb replacement

If you have a pink shadow (meaning you can still see the picture in it) the light engine (projector part of tv) where the bulb goes is failing. you have to replace projector. contact Sony quick as it might still be under extended warranty. They had class action lawsuit and extended warranty on many models becuase of this problem but they expire soon. Good luck.

Blue screen. Everything on the screen is blue. It is a deeper blue on the left side of the screen but it seems to be spreading to the entire screen

The projector part of the tv known as a light engine or optical block is failing and needs to be replaced. Contact Sony, it may get fixed for free under their extended warranty..but it is expiring very soon! It would cost at least several hundred dollars if you had to pay for it.

You have a optical block issue. Contact Sony support to see if they are still honoring the extended warranty. This can be done from the web or by phone. It's likely you will need to speak to them if the extended warranty has expired. NOTE - this is not your warranty, but a Sony accomodation for a early production issue.
