My black ink is the only one having problems
SOURCE: HP Photosmart 3310 All iN One Printer
Try taking out the ink cartdridge and looking at the contacts where the ink cartdridge meets te cradle, sometimes ink gunks up on the carasel and allthough you change it out, the gunk stays there and just block the new one put in. wear latex gloves when doing this, Black ink is pesky on the skin.
Also, just might want to check the printer settings and be sure it isnt set to print in greyscale.

I had the same problem. Ended up replacing the black/yellow "printhead" and that corrected the problem.

You can get a download of the manual from HP:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=emea_africa&lang=en&product=57595&
The self-clean cycle of the cartridges can be accessed from the LCD or the software on your computer.
To manually cleaning the cartridges:
Remove the cartridge from the printer. Dip a cotton swab in distilled water and squeeze out any excess water. While holding the cartridge by its top, wipe off the face and edges of the cartridge. Do not wipe the nozzle plate (that could damage the cartridge). Replace the cartridge in the printer. Please note: if the cartridge is out of the printer for more than 30 minutes, the ink could start to dry out and not be usable.
The print heads are part of the cartridge.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
Please follow the below mentioned steps.
Step 1: Check the ink cartridges
HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink. If the ink cartridges have been refilled, try replacing them with genuine HP ink cartridges.
Step 2: Check ink levels
If the print defect is minor, it might be caused by reserve mode operation. When the printer runs out of some colors, it can continue printing using remaining inks, but print quality may be affected. If cyan, magenta, or yellow is out, the printer can print only in grayscale.
Replace any empty print cartridges.
To check ink levels, examine the ink drop icons on the color graphics display.
For a larger display of ink levels, click the Right Select Photos arrow.
1 - Right Select Photos arrow
The ink levels display in larger format, with the icons corresponding to each cartridge.

Step 3: Calibrate color
If the cartridges have not been refilled and none are empty, try calibrating the color.
Step 4: Clean the printhead
If the steps above have not help, clean the printhead.
Step 5: Service the product
If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.
Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.
