Need manual for Funai SV2000 Model#WV20V6

I bought a used Funai DVD/VCR recorder and it didn't come with an owner's manual. I have not been able to use it, is there a way to get a manual sent to me or at least basic operating instructions? I tried the web site, but could not find a manual. I have also tried calling the 800 number, but was on hold for more than 10 minutes. Can you please help me so that I can use this product? Thank you. Jill

    Recording
  1. When you want to record using the SV2000, turn on the machine and open the disc tray with the "Open/Close" button. Insert a blank DVD and press the "Open/Close" button again. The recorder will check for information burned on the disc and, for some discs, format the disc for recording.

Press the "REC MODE" button on the remote control to set the recording mode. There are 6 recording mode options on the SV2000, all of which offer a different recording time. Each recording mode will display on the screen when you press the "REC MODE" button, as well as the total recording time for that mode. Note that the longer the recording time, the lower the quality of the recording.

Once the recording mode is set, change the DVD player to the channel you want to record by entering the number on the remote control. Press the "REC" button when ready to record. When finished, press the "Stop" button on the remote control. You will see "Writing to Disc" on the screen and a status bar. Do not turn off the SV2000 until all of the recording is written to the disc.

There are several additional recording methods available on the SV2000, all of which are explained in the instruction manual. To use all of the features of the recorder, review the manual. A link to a PDF version of the manual is located in the Resources section.
  2. Playback
  3. To playback a recorded disc, place the disc in the tray as described above. A menu with all of the titles recorded on the disc will appear after the disc loads. Navigate through the list using the arrow buttons on the remote control and press the "Play" button to begin playback. To fast forward or rewind the video during playback, press the "FWD" or "REV" buttons. If the recorded disc has chapters, press the "NEXT" or "PREV" buttons to skip through chapters during playback. Press the "Stop" button at any time to end playback.

Help quetion

Which brand of DVD-R disc did you use? What error did you get? What is your video source? Most TVs don't give video output. The tuner on the WV20V6 is an NTSC (analog) tuner. Thus you need to use a set-top box (OTA digital-to-analog converter, cable or satellite box) with the recording "channel" set to video input 1 for most channels or analog cable input to the recorder.
Verbatim DVD-R 8x, Maxell DVD-R 8X/16X and JVC DVD-R 2X have been tested and proven to work by the manufacturer. A number of DVD+R and DVD+RW or DVD-RW have been tested as well.
I've found that you have to test each batch of DVDs. Different manufacturing plants can lead to bad discs from a previously good brand.
The manual for the WV20V6 is available from Funai Corp (who manufacture the recorder for SV2000). The direct link is http://www.funai-corp.com/support/om/WV20V6.pdf . See page 25 of the PDF for tested optical discs. No CD-Rs will work.
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information about your situation for additional support.

Have a Magnavox MWR20V6 - have a few things going on, one the power shutting off automatically when i put the vcr on timer and therefore does not record, and 2 vhs tapes that are almost new, gets stuck

Junk it. It's identical to Funai WV20V6. I can't remember exactly what is causing the shutdown. But, I do remember that it says it can't be fixed. Read other posts here at Fixya.

please email me for this service manual. Be aware this older model is a DVD player only not a recorder or combo unit!

Was this information valuable to you? If so, please take a moment to let me know either thru email or by simply rating this solution.

So you're aware, only a vote of "Fixya" will bump a member's rating up one point. Contrary to what you'd expect anything less (such as a vote of "helpful") will actually pull it in the negative direction!

Acknowledgement of this solution's accuracy and value will directly give it the greatest possible visibility to help many others who are seeking this same information.

It'll further provide those of us who make these contributions with the necessary feedback to be confident the time and effort required making them is worthwhile rather than an utter waste of time. Thanks for your greatly appreciated time and consideration!

I AM TRYING TO OBTAIN A USERS MANUAL. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE DVD RECORDERVCR COMBO. IT WAS SV2000 AND THR MODEL NUMBER IS WV20V6. I WAS INFORMED THAT I COULD GO ONLINE AND DOWNLOAD THE NECESSARY...

Not a problem:

http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/funai/wv20v6.html

You'll need to register but you only need to enter first name, email address and password. A fake email address will work fine if you're worried about spam.

Hope this helps,

FUNAI WV20V6 VCR-DVD

Arakawastore. As usual you'll need to register a username and password to logon with if you want to actually download the service manual. But you can see everything you want to know about it by clicking on the hotlink below without having to register beforehand.

If you're hoping to find it online for free all you'll do is waste vast amounts of time. If I had it in my PDF service library I'd gladly have provided you with it, just as I've done on numerous occasions before here on Fixya.

Not once has a single Fixya member ever bothered to acknowledge my having done so as you can tell by my huge 3 point ranking. Perhaps this best accounts for why we all still have to pay for them.
