Sony KDF60-WF655 Picture has a blue tint

When I turn my TV on, a blue border appears on the edge of my screen. I've also noticed that half of the picture has taken on a bluish tint. I purchased this set in February 2005 and replaced the lamp in November 2006. Can anyone please tell me what's going on with my set? Thank you!

call SONY at 800 222 SONY and explain it to them ....

I called! It is called the "blue dot" or "star pattern" or "optical block."

Sony covers this problem. They are sending someone out. When the service rep confirms that it is the "optical block" problem them you won't be charged to fix it.

I have a Grand WEGA 60 inch KDF-60WF655. Bought it July 2005 problem came up January 2008.

Started getting a blue tint in the lower right hand corner and then in the lower left hand corner, it has spread over the right half of the screen.

There is also ghosting when letters appear. The whole tv has a blue tint to it now

I have a blue 'blood' triangle on the lower right of my 60" screen. The triangle is now about 8" by 8" and growing. There is also a faint blue band across the lower 2-3" of my screen. The model is a KDF-60WF655 and I purchased it in January of 2005. I have replaced two projection lamps - the last one thinking that it would cure the blue screen issue.

My tv is no longer under warranty - but, for a top of the line - SONY product - I would appreciate help from the manufacturer.

Our Sony KDF-60WF655 also has the blue tint problem. There are blue areas that appear in various parts of the screen, most notibly on the left side and at times notice it in other areas, including blue lines up a bit from the bottom of the screen.

I also have the problem with my KDF60wf655 that I purchased in 12/2004. The tv is no longer under warranty. Sony was called and told me I am basicly on my own now that the tv warranty has expired. The repair shop told me it is most likely something called a light engine. It cost is about $800. to $1000. Any suggestions??

I also have the same blue dots problem... sony told me since my tv decided to break after there extended warranty and not before. I'm screwed, even though this is a defect that they have known would happen to everyone eventually. I Will never buy another sony product for the rest of my life!

Blue tint on lower left of screen. Gradually taking over the entire screen. Is this the BLOB or something? So if sony won't do anything, is there some action underway? My son thinks there is some kind of lawsuit in progress.

I had the same 'blue' dot/blue cloud' problem but I guess I was late (Nov, 2009). Sony never offered to fix the problem but just referred me to a local service shop who did not mention any manufacturer program to fix this problem. I am extremely disappointed in Sony and have now purchased a new Samsung LCD ... good riddance and needless to say I will not purchase any Sony product in the future.

I have the same problem and Sony is going to replace my Optic Block free of charge (parts and labor) even though the set is out of warranty....they will do this until about Oct of 2008 so if you have this problem get on the internet and fill out the Sony request for service....they also replace the cooling fan as part of the work

You have a bad optic block engine. Cost will run you over $1,000.00 I have the same issue (as do many others) and Sony is not helpful.

Sony has issued a "Blue Dot Warranty" which is an extended warranty to fix this particular problem on select models. The warranty will expire 12/31/08, so if you have this problem you should call Sony right away to get an authorized repair center dispatched to fix the problem. There should be no charge. Sony's number is 800-222-SONY(7669)

Hi,

We have a Sony Grand WEGA 60 inch LCD/HD TV and bought it in March of 2005 and we had the blue blob effect on the screen and Sony agreed to replace the Optical Block for free. The repair was done and then a high pitch came from our TV and with several phone calls between Sony and QServe the tech did come back free of charge to evaluate the problem. It was the fan in the Optical Block that made the high pitch sound. Sony agreed to replace the Optical Block a second time. Here is website I found was useful and I call directly to Sony about the blue blob or mapping effect on the screen. I have found calling the company direct sure made a big difference in getting the problem resolved. I hope this helps others with the same problems we had. KD

Blue clouds on screen, already replaced main bulb still getting worse. Please help.

Light Engine is Bad, Sony had alot of these that went bad. Sony Offers replacement TVs if this is the case. Go to Facebook and then type in I HAVE A DEFECTIVE SONY TV. Sony has a FB account and they will get back to you about a replacement TV. Sometimes they will offer you a 55inch LCD in replacement on the old DLPs.

The screen turns blue after about 2 minutes of turning on the TV

Sony TVs has an Optical Block issue. If there is an issue with the optical block, then there will be green, blue patches or tint on the TV display. Try resetting the TV to the factory settings and try Power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue still persists, then TV may require service. You can contact the Customer relations team and check for the available options. Sony had repaired free of cost for such issues. Hence, contact the customer relations.
