I have just replaced the magnatrton for a Kenmore microwave model # 665.606.5900 as before replacing the part there is still the buzzing sound and non-heating
I have a GE counter top microwave oven. When the oven starts cooking (the magnetron turns on) the oven makes a harsh buzzing noise. What is wrong and what should be done?
The noise is probably from the high-voltage transformer. When it
is overloaded, the excess magnetic field it produces vibrates its wire
coils. Odd that it only happens for a brief time. It is
either defective itself (in which case it may go a long time) or it is
getting overloaded by the magnatron/capacitor/diode on its output (in
which case it will get worse shortly)
Hope Ya Fix it
The most likely causes are a shorted high-voltage diode or a bad magnetron.
If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

When there's a loud buzz like that, it does not heat, and does not blow the fuse, it is usually a defective magnetron.
Did it sound something like someone making a "gurgling" sound into a coffee cup?
I think this has a a one-year warranty, with n five-year warranty covering the magnetron.
You can find a local Amana-authorized servicer here:

With the symptoms you
have, I would most strongly suspect a shorted high voltage rectifier
diode or a bad magnetron.
The magnetron would still be under warranty, but the labor would not be covered.
If you or someone you know would look at it, I could reply back with more detailed info.
Would that be the case, or would you rather call Sears for service?
