Everytime I put in a game it will run fine for about 1 or 2 minutes then the whole game freezes, there is a buzzing sound and a bunch of weird lines show up on the screen or sometimes it just blacks out all together

I have had the same issue, it happned during a game of CoD4, it was working fine and once it happned the first time i shut it off, then it did it again, so i thought it was just CoD4, so i waited till then next day played rockband for mabye 20 mins or so and it went to green lines again.
Same issue here... Was gearing up for a game of GTA IV with some friends. As soon as the game started it froze. No red lights... I turned the system off. STarted it up again and the same thing happened. Everything loaded fine all the way up to where you take control. Froze right up again. I figure its the install to the HD that is the problem. I un-install the game and run it from the disk. Same thing...as soon as the game loads it craps. Then I figure alright lets just go play COD:WaW. All the menus it is fine. I set up a multiplayer... invite my friends. All systems go. Everything is loading... all of us talking smack via LIVE. The bam. Complete black screen... Nothing. No red lights. Turn system of and back on. Get to the menu screen and not more than10 seconds later the video is frozen again. Again, no red lights. Green lights only.
During the 2-3 day period when this was going on I actually was showing my dad what was going on and after about the ~15th time of turning on the system since originally getting the problem i finally got the 3ROD...not that its a good thing but at least i know the problem and can now address it. My guess for why the red lights isnt showing is because my GPU is a lot more messed up than my CPU so I suppose the GPU went out first and finally the CPU went out also. (Yes I took it apart...because my warranty expired a couple months ago...I got mine on the original release date too so I'm surprised it lasted this long without problems and kinda ticked that it took this long for the problem to show up). As for addressed this problem, if the game totally freezes and the graphics get messed up then I would send it in to Microsoft if its still under warranty, and if it isnt then its really your choice: you can send it in to Microsoft and have them MAYBE fix the problem for ~$140, you can try to fix the problem yourself (which is what I'm doing and its going very well so far because fortunately the problem is well-documented all over the internet...i spent a couple hours reading articles on XBox 360 Forums and watching videos on youtube, etc.), or you can go on eBay and I think theres a service that will fix your XBox for about $60 if you get either 2 or 3 Red Lights. I have spent about $10 total on everything I need to fix the 3ROD and I should have it up and running in a couple days.
