I have the same exact problem posted from Oct 2006. Lights turning on and off at random, etc... Is there anything reported from DACOR saying this is a recall problem? How was it finally fixed and how expensive was it? Did you have to replace the entire touch pad or was the a less expensive solution?
This happened to my oven and we had to replace the control panel membrane for $367.00 and it fixed the problem. Since then the electronics on the clock went and this repair is $550.00 for a clock!!
Needless to say I turfed the oven, and purchased another, but I kept the new membrane. If anyone wants it (6 mo old) you can let me know.
The convection mode to my electric dacor oven keeps turning off during cooking times
I got Dacor to replace both motherboard and the board with the lamp relay for free parts only (ie, I paid the service call). Since this is a known and persistent problem, Dacor should have sent out a recall on this and not wait secretly in the background for complainers to emerge. Had they contacted me in '01, '02, '03,...., I'd have more respect for the company. Also, they should have covered the service costs on their dime.
My Bobcat was well past warranty, but certain manufacturing and design flaws became apparent on my machine yrs later and Bobcat went to significant effort to give me a fully corrected machine. Why not Dacor?
Note the 10w...not 20w...halogen lamp replacement. If you install a 20w into the unit, and if it is not fused (per some models) as mine was not fused, you burn out the icecube relay.
By the way, the reset button (which disables the heating coils) is poorly and dangerously located behind several live components in a 2 1/2" space. The last time that that tripped, I moved it to the FRONT of its cabinet and screwed it back in. Now I can reset without a) Electrocuting myself if too lazy to shut the breaker or b) Not having to run to the basement to hit the breaker during reset. This relocation of the reset button can be done without removing oven from wall, but far easier if removed.
Based upon what solutions 2 and 3 suggested. I was able to simply disable the light and chattering relay by disconnecting the 1 inch wide mylar ribbon connector from the bigger circuit board.
It is the smaller of the flat cables that comes out of the back of the control panel and attaches near the left side of the bigger circuit board.
The light doesn't work but it's a good enough work around if you don't want to part with the money.
I had the same problem. I called Decor in CA and told them they had a design/product problem. they said they were aware of the problem. I asked them to send me a replacement assembly and they agreed. It's easy to remove and replace if you can use simple hand tools and know how to work on equipment without getting electrocuted.
San Diego
I replaced the membrance panel and wal-law it worked.
Cost about $180.
The fix is replacing the mebrane panel. Recent poster advised they where able to get Dacor to send a new panel and they would install (it's not difficult). I bought one online for around $175 and installed myself. Do a search for details.

oven light turns on and wont turn off at random.
I have the same trouble with the Dacor ECS127SCH. What's the fix?
Persistent, erratic on/off of oven lamp since '01 install. At $270 quote from authorized rpr, decided not to rpr. However in '07 could not correct with reset of lamp touchpad...halogens burned out from overuse. My unit DID NOT HAVE a 4a fusible link between relay and relay board (an option on wiring schematics), and 10w replacement halogens not available in my area. Replaced with 2 20w halogens...and blew relay.
Dacor said that they'd cover elect. parts and I pay rpr costs.
The light constantly strobes at a furious pace--we wish it would just burn out and we would do without the light. as it is, we turn of the circuit for the ove. we already had a 300 repair of replacing the control panel because the door was left open in the traditional broil position and later found out you're not supposed to do that. Not very happy with Dacor, to say the least.
We have the same exact problem with the lights randomly turning on and off at a high rate of speed. Also, our temperature probe has never worked.
same oven light with model mcs 130.
Same problem...this unit has had other problems like not heating up to desired temperature (had it serviced out of pocket, and then I learned the trick to reset button in upper section...still experimenting on a solution on the light problem -- already spent a lot on service for THIS DACOR and a matching DACOR microwave.
Oven light switches off and on at a rapid rate.
We've turned off the circuit but lose the clock
and timer as a result. Seems like Dacor should
have a solution. This is our second Dacor oven.
We traded for the second after the first Dacor
developed electrical problems.
the oven light switches on and off up to about 30 times a second, then slows down kind or random like. I figured it was a defectifve membrane switch so I ripped it apart and cut the printed circuit trace to the light membrane switch. Now I have no light but at least I can leave the power on without going insane.
the oven light started chatter almost a year ago. We use the breaker to switch it on and off. Â We also have a cooktop from dacor that comes on and off as it pleases. Â My brother in law had a dishwasher that went crazy. Â Dacor replaced that one. Â This company should issue recalls if they are going to charge the money for the products they should back them up. Â I won't buy their products again.
The lights are going crazy--on/off! What can be done?
