I washed a load of clothes this morning washer worked fine. Went to wash another load and the door will not lock to start the wash cycle. Can I fix this myself or do I need to call appliance guy?
Hi
First
make sure that nothing is blocking the drain pump assembly located inside the
bottom of the unit, after this test the door lock-switch assembly. If the door
lock-switch is also fine then the control board should be replaced. Hope this
helps...please post back for further assistance.

Open the front door and load the clothing into the washing machine. Check the owner's manual for the maximum load size. Overloading the washing machine may interfere with its ability to spin the clothes and rinse them clean.

I have the same problem... my door won't latch, therefore won't start the cycle.
I am having the same problem with this frigidaire front load washer. Does anyone have a link to pics that show exactly how to fix the problem? Thanks!
See if the plastic latch on the door is intact? There is also a microswitch that the door latch contacts to allow the washer to work. You can buy the plastic door latch for about $10 bucks and replace it with 2 screws. The microswitch is more involved. Start with the plastic door latch. Give it a good visual inspection and see if a piece appears broken off.
You may need help on the switch.
If you need parts there are some good ones online that show parts breakdown illustrations and you should have it in a couple of days. You can also get a part number online and call a local appliance parts place. Its a pretty common part.
Good luck.
