Can you go to Control Panel and verify that you are an Administrator? Try creating a new account.
To make and add a local admin as Guest! Save as batch file in startup group. Copy syntex and paste into Notepad. Save as Admin.bat. Go to Start > All Programs > Startup. Right click and save in Startup folder. Reboot. You now have an Administrator account. Login as Nadmin. No password required.
Go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts to make user changes.
@echo off
net user Nadmin /add /expires:never /passwordreq:no
net localgroup "Administrators" /add Nadmin
SOURCE: THE SOUND ON MY COMPAQ PRESARIO CQ56 HAS STOPPED
chrisojari,
Hello, Welcome to Fixya.com, We are here to help you with your sound issues.
First check and see if its muted there is a tray icon to your right hand side by the clock on you windows operating system. Make sure its not mute by clicking on it (right mouse click) then go to playback devices.
Make sure there is no mute button pressed anywhere on the system for example some HP's have a mute button on the keyboard area.
Please update me and let me know if you have any issues.
We do hope this was very helpful advice. Sometimes you may need further support we do offer chat support, Phone support for a one time fee witch can get you going!

You need to get the DC Power Jack Either Repaired or replaced...this is the "female" port where your AC Power cord plugs into.. To Repair the current DC Jack...First you'll need to look closely at the Positive posts to see that they are not broken.. If visibally ok.. then you can look at the Solder Connections.. they will need to first be Desoldered.. Cleaned, then Resoldered back in place.
