SOURCE: screen goes black while power button is on i turn

Common problem with is SONY 17" and the 19" are due to fail lamp assembly as shown in my pictures here which will be the worst case. You will need to check the other parts in the set first.

You will need test lamps to verify.

SOURCE: monitor keeps going black, turn power button off,

The problem is in the inverter board it is on the verge of failure, it is caused by bad capacitors in most cases and will eventually go. The board must be replaced or an attempt to repair the old one.

Why does my HP vs17 monitor screen keep going to blank black screen like it turned off but did'nt.....blue power button light is still on? Everything is running but no picture.....keeps happening everytime...

this old monitor has 2 issues.
1: it has CCFL tubes that love to burn out (backlamps)
most this old are long go, yell, dim.,blinking or DEAD.
2: push the menu button on front of mon. turn off power saver.

3: if the PC goes to sleep, or hibernete mode (parked)
then that is 100% normal
if you dont like feature then go to windows control panel
click power, ICON and turn off all monitor sleep /hibernate modes.

that assumes windows, no OS stated.

if the lamps are dead,
use flash light pointed to sceen, see data. ? bingo for bad CCFT tubes.
as seen here

Power Light blinks on then shuts down - Black Screen

I couldn't find any fix on this monitor so I had to go it alone.......

My VG500b monitor would power on then the power light would blink off. there was no display at all but I could see the LCD panel change in brightness just a small bit during the power on and then power off. I found that there was a bad capacitor on the inverter board. I replaced the 47uF 25v capacitor with a 47uF 35v capacitor. (The 25v would be okay but I always replace a failed capcitor with a higher voltage rating) This capacitor is the shorter form in order to fit under the shield. You can use a taller capaitor but you will have to lay it down, as in bend the leads down and lay it on it's side in order to fit under the sheld when you put it back together. VG500b fired right up and is going strong once again. Hope this helps someone.

My Dell 17 inch monitor keeps dying out. At first, it would flicker black and then go back to the original setting. Now, it flickers black and dies out -- the "on" button goes from green to...

You can verify that it is the inverter going out by turning the monitor on in a dark room and shining a light directly into the screen. If you cannot see anything, then something has happened to the power circuit. Perhaps the solder on the power port has gone bad, and needs to be redone, or part of the circuit board fried. The only way to figure this out is to open it up and take a look-see. If you don't wish to try this, you can always take it to a shop and have them look at it. Be careful opening it, the inverter is high voltage. Don't have any power going to the monitor if you do this.

I pluged up my moniter up and it didnt come on why is this.

Many monitors that do not come on or that fail to show power on by there LED in the frount have a issue with there power supply. Experts have found once the monitor was opened that BAD eletrolytic Capacitors where prsent, While these Capcitors where changed the monitor would be fuctional again.

1. check for bad eletrolytic capacitors
2. check your power cord
3. check power supply inside the monitor

Warning if you do not know how to check you might want to bring this to the attention of a local tech in your area.

My dell monitor will only turn on for a few seconds then it goes black. it doesnt turn of it just goes black and I can keep doing it and it will keep going black.

Hello,

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since it goes off after few seconds and the power led or button is on, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

Screen keeps turning on and off. it will turn on then go all black but the green power button will remain green

You can inspect the power supply section first for bad caps with bulging top, or buy new PCB: http://www.lcdrepair.us/e193fpc-inverter-power.html
Make sure it matches what you have inside your monitors.

What could cause a dell flatscreen monitor to go

Probably a bad power supply in the monitor. One of these days it will go black and stay that way.
