I have had my elliptical for about a year now and I have had no problems at all with it until now. Its making a grinding sound and it feels like it's harder to move the pedals. What could be wrong? and how do I fix it? I did lay it on its side to look at it from underneath and I didn't see anything that would be grinding together and all the belts looked fine.

The only way to assess is to take the covers off. There are a few reasons for this type of problem.
My wife has the same problem with her ASR 700. I looked at it and I see that the bar, attached to the left pedal, is scrubbing against the plastic cover. I just cannot figure out how to get the side off. Once I do, I still do not know what I need to adjust, to fix it. Nothing seems to be loose. The bar just seems to be a little too far to the left. Your problem may be the same issue. Sorry I have not been able to fix it , so that I could tell you.
it may need a wave washer to stop the problem. It is something we ahve to do from time to time
