First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

Click "Start" button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the "Search" bar and press "Enter". Click "Continue" if necessary.

In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.

Hello, the problem is that your data on the USB flash drive hhas lost so your PC can not recognize it. You can use recovery tool to restore your data. Such as 4Card Recovery, which is very strong recovery software. Pay attention to it, do not cover your old data by new things.

SOURCE: Only 5GB on TDK TRANS-IT USB 2.0 Flash Drive 8GB

Not the solution you might like but there have been reports of bogus/ counterfeit smaller capacity sticks/drives relabeled and programed to report higher capacities. I've been told that running a formatting/partitioning application on them reflect the true capacity but have not had to try this solution myself..

Submitted for information only but please rate so I accumulate a lot of unanswered solutions, Thanks

I formatted my TDK 16gb udb drive and now my win7 does not recognize it at all.

Please check if it behaves the same on another computer system.
Otherwise reformat it again with FAT32 or NTFS format.

My desktop PC XP OS can detect TDK FDD-100 external floppy drive ,but cannot read files inside. How can I solve my problem?

The disc may be corrupted :( In most cases external floppy drives work just fine but the disc they are reading is old. Shelf life of floppies is really only 3 to 5 years. After that you really can't trust that you'll be able to read them. I've had discs up to 10 years old that I can still read, but others that are only a couple years old I can't. Try plugging the floppy into another PC to see if that one can read it. Recommend trying it on a newer PC (Windows 7 or 8)

I can't add files to my 16gb TDK gold flash usb drive. I can remove them. even when there are no files in the folders at all, the info tab says it has stuff on it. so i looked for a 'format' tab and...

Try RMPrepUSB - Quick Size Test (it will destroy all data but test the drive) or FakeFlashTest. If it tests OK, reformat using RMPrepUSB - Prepare Drive.
