You added stabil but did you run the gas out of the carb? Take the carb apart and klean all with carb cleaner, spray in all holes. Check the plug gap of the new plug while your into the unit anyway the gap should only be 1mm.

Put new gas and new oil in and tried to start. Would stall in few seconds when could start. There is fluid dripping from the filter area

Hi Anonymouse:
I'd be checking to make sure that the correct fluid in the correct amount was added to the correct place.
Start with the oil. Check the dipstick or indicator level. Too much oil will stop the engine. Sometimes gas get accidently put in the oil filler if an inexperienced person is helping with the maintenance.
Gas.......... Make sure that oil was not accidently added to the gas tank. Drain the carb and put fresh gas in the gas tank.
Spark plug.;.... pull and check for fouling. Replace if not really clean. Check for hot blue spark before re-installing.
This should get you back digging up the garden very soon.

If I haven't added Stabil to the gasoline for my Craftsmen 675, will that keep it from starting?

Ethanol gas can gum up the fuel system if left in unit for to long from now on use ethanol free gas in all small engines

Ice auger isn't getting gas....

You will probably have to remove and disassemble the carburetor. Clean thoroughly and reassemble. Drain the gas line until fresh fuel comes out. Always run premium nonoxygenated( no ethanol ) fuel in your auger and add a fuel stabilizer like stabil or seafoam .this will help keep the problem from reoccurring. Hope this helps.

Backfiring around carb area

Carburetor needs to be serviced. Stabil doesn't keep them from getting gummed up.

Karcher gas washer will not start...have replaced the spark plug and put fuel stabilizer in the gas tank.

Does it have old gas in it? Fuel stabilizer added to old gas is added too late, must be put in with fresh gas. Drain fuel and replace with new gas. Drain carb. also while tank empty and fuel lines if you can. If lucky you will not need to take carb. apart to clean.

After 1 season it ran great ,slowly died now it wont start

So many possibilities, so little data... <grin>

When you say "clean gas", do you mean that you added "fresh" gas, or that you emptied the tank, and refilled it with "fresh" gas?

Try this:

a. remove the "float bowl" screw, and put a regular "bowl" or pan underneath to catch ALL of the gas as it comes out.

b. if the gas is totally "clear", then it (probably ain't the gas), but... if it's "yellow", it's old and/or contaminated; alternatively, if there's any water (which may appear as a grey-ish liquid) then it's contaminated; also, don't forget to check the gas from your "storage" can, the same way...

c. re-install the the screw, and put some *FRESH* gas in the tank.

d. pull the spark-plug, and clean (or replace) it.

e. prime it, and crank it, and it should start right up.

Wont start after 6 mos. I changed the spark plug, drained & added fresh gas, checked the fuel filter... Kicks over fine. Ran for 4 seconds, then it died. Always ran & started great before.

With a new plug and fresh gas it should start. Check to make sure there isn't a kill switch turned off or that the gas petcock from the tank to the carb is on.

How did you check the fuel filter? Disconnecting it from the fuel line that goes to the carb is the best way, making sure the gas is turned on under the tank. Bleed off a little gas into a can or something just to make sure the filter isn't plugged.

The last thing I'd do is take off the air filter and spray a little starting fluid in the carb. It may start and run several times if there is old gas in there somewhere. Remember the bowl on the carb is probably still full of old gas. After some fresh fuel reaches the plug it should start and continue to run.

(You might drain the bowl on the carb of ols gas before you go any further)

Good luck!
