You need a new synchronous motor. This is the small motor which turns the flame effect rod. They are notorious for becoming noisy.

This is an old post! I am having the same issue with a clicking electric fireplace heater. I took the backing off and noted that the clicking sound is indeed coming from the synchronous motor. I see it's something that can be replaced without too much difficulty so I've just placed an order for a replacement. Thank you for your help. The other solutions offered online such as clearing the dust and checking for debris and heating coils expanding didn't apply here.

SOURCE: motor in dimplex fire/heater not turning

Hello. It could be possible that a piece or some of the foil that gives the flame effect has fallen down on the motor, that creates the heat. This could be causing the noise. I would not think this is an electrics problem.

I would ensure the electric fire is disconnected from any power supply and either open the heater myself or get a electrical specialist to have a look. Then you will see exactly what is happening. A piece of foil may be visible which is catching the motor.

If you decide to tackle the problem yourself write down how to put the heater back together as you take each part out. These parts would be covers etc. It can easily get confusing. That is important.

Dimplex Charlbury Electric Fire - 18 months old and the flame effect has stopped. The ribbons are fine so I think the motor that causes the effect has stopped. Is this easy to replace or is the unit...

Not uncommon for those little motors to wear out. Easiest thing to do is go to connection at wiring connector to motor, and test for voltage there. If voltage is there, then I'd replace the motor.

Mower will not start. Makes a loud fast clicking noise when the key is turned.

Loud ticking usually indicates near dead battery, take it out and charge it. If it still ticks you may need to replace it as they are only good for a few years.
