Ice tray not filling

Fridge has been in use for a couple of years but the water has never been connected. I've now provided a water feed. Water dispenser works but no water in the icetray and subsequently no ice. When I push the crushed ice or ice cube dispense button the fridge makes noises so mechanical stuff seems to be working. Just looked at usr manual, not very helpful but it des say wait 24 hours but I would have assumed the tray should fill with water immedaitely. Thanks in advance

The unit will not allow water to enter the frig til the temp is cold enough to make ice.

Testimonial: "Thanks for that, I was clearly being impatient, got up this morning and the ice box is full of ice. Didn't occur to me it might actually take that longto freeze a bit of water... Doh.. Many thanks Gary"

We had thought this was a free service...??? Yes, we fixed it ourselves, after trial and error. We pulled out the ice bin and there is an arm that is moves back and forth beside it. It had frozen up. That is the ice crusher. Thaw it out and it is fixed. By the way, the above posting was not by us--ours stated that our ice crusher did not crush ice anymore. Instead, cubes came out...

SOURCE: GE GSS25LGM Ice maker not dispensing ice

You have one of three things wrong. The auger motor is frozen up, the ice bucket is broken or you need to dump out any ice, run warm water through the entire ice bucket, dry it out and try again with fresh cubes. My guess is the auger motor is frozen. You can buy a vinyl boot that covers the auger motor to prevent moisture buildup and freezing from GE Parts at 1-800-626-2002

SOURCE: ge gss fridge, ice dispenser problem.

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. The crush position is without the solenoid energized. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid

Your solenoid is part 45 and the linkage to the crusher is 46. The crusher is 41 on this diagram and parts list. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5150332&diagram_id=1239793#d1239793

Fridge too cold!

don't forget that just turning down your fridge temp dose not mean your problem might be over yet. the freezer setting may also be too high & that will affect your fridge temp as well. i set both my control settings to around 50% of what is on the scale & that works perfect for my 7 yr old fridge. also, very important, is make sure the freezer portion is going through it's full defrost cycles, or it will freeze the upper portion inside the fridge. you should not have any frost build up in your fridge, nor should you have any in your freezer. that's why they call them FROST FREE. try the slow temp decrease over a period of a few days & hopefully that will work for you. good luck.

GE 17.2 freezer on top fridge on bottom. Freezer is cold, but fridge is warm. Help!

Is there any frost buildup on the rear panel inside the freezer? If so you have a defrost problem of a bad defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or defrost timer/ control board. If no frost then you probably have a clogged defrost drain. Remove the rear panel to access drain hole.

Ice maker turns, but no water is filing the tray

most likely the water valve is bad or the fill line that's inside the freezer behind the ice maker cup could be frozen, next time send the brand name and model number, but most likely you have a bad water valve on the back of the machine,or no water is going to the fridge.you can shut off the valve, disconnect the feed line going to the fridge, get a bucket, stick the line in the bucket and turn the water back on,this way you know water is going to the fridge and also you'll be cleaning out the line, usually sediment from the water line gets into the valve so it's a good idea to flush the line before you change out the valve.you say the ice maker turns so the only other thing left is the valve.good luck with your machine

I have a Samsung bottom freezer top fridge RB215LASH. Water leaks from the inside back panel down under the crisper. The drain is not clogged. Their is no problem with the evaporator coils freezing...

OK, first there is only two ways water can be entering the fridge under any circumstances, one is through the Ice Maker feed line coming from your wall to the back of the fridge and into the ice maker. The other is from the ice trays themselves leaking or overflowing or the filter itself is leaking. Look at the side walls of your refrigerator, are there water streaks running down the side? Have you reset the ice maker since you did your repairs? Have you replaced the filter lately?

Usual Causes

If the water pressure is too high, the ice tray can over fill or water can splash out. You can turn the supply shutoff valve to reduce the water flow. See the diagram below. If the ice cube tray has residual pieces of ice in the bottom, remove the pieces by pressing the reset button. You may have to do this several times to clear all the ice out of the tray.

Get back to me and I know you provided a lot of information, but this is a inline water issue relating to the ice maker and not really thinking it could be anything else. So if you can give me more information about the form in which this happens, such as you find the water after the trays are filled or if this is a constant but minimal flow, large flow, we can concentrate our plan towards this are of the repairs and diagnosis. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

HI, I have a KSRL25FRSS00 side by side. The icemaker fills with water and freezes, but doesn't dump the ice cubes. I've used a hair dryer on it to melt the ice a little and have got it to dump the...

There is a heater in the ice tray that is supposed to thaw the cubes a little bit so they don't stick to the edge of the tray. When the heater does not work the ice sticks and the motor wont dump them out. You can see more info and comments and how to here: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/repair-help/kitchenaid-refrigerator-ksrl25frss00-repair/ksrl25frss00-ice-maker-wont-dispense-ice.html

The water solinoid is not sending water to my ice tray

Had the same problem. As long as the ice machine is still moving, meaning its working but just no water is getting to the ice tray.  order part #2205762 valve, solenoid and change it out.  It is not hard to do if you pay attention to how you take the old one out.
