All you need to do is get a USB based sound adapter 16/32BIT MINIMUM to plug your speakers straight into your laptop with better sound. Many laptops will have limited sound OUTPUT which places large limitations on pushing sound through your nice speakers. You already know the problem is not the speakers or new cables, therefore you know that problem has been isolated to your laptop. You may also check the volume settings in the laptop to ensure your running the highest possible BIT or volume enhacement software. Let me know if this does the trick for you.
Your laptop needs to be able to send digital audio. Double-click your Volume Icon, click on Options/Advanced Controls (if it's available). Under there is a checkbox to enable 'Digital Only' mode. If Advanced Options is grayed out, you'll have to use analog external speakers...
generally you hook it straight into the headphone jack some computers have a speaker setup category with the soundcard software. you can look under control panel to find out or not
Yes , you can hook X-530 to a laptop.
I have the same speakers and they come with a 'game adapter'; one side of it accommodates the three plugs and the other side has two plugs for an RCA cable adapter. All you need now is a 2xRCA plug to 1x3.5mm stereo plug which you can buy for $5-$10 from JB Hi-fi and hey presto, you can plug it all into the single headphone slot on your laptop. Thanks for using Fixya.
You can do this through a receiver (like a stereo receiver). Hook the tv up to line 1 and the computer up to line 2, then hook the stereo receiver output to the input of your subwoofer. Then shift the receiver from line 1 to line 2 (as easy as pressing a button on the front of the receiver) to hear either one through your speakers.
I don't know of any interface that goes from speaker wires to USB. I think that we should go another way. You know soundblaster has many cards that will let you hook those speakers right up and its a very easy installation. I myself have Bose speakers hooked up to my soundblaster card and its wonderful. You can peruse the soundblaster cards here. Its really easy to do and it will allow you to have great sound that you can configure for very high quality stereo.
