Have the radio tested first on a dummy load--if ok check the connector on the antenna--Big Stick antennas if old can break inside but a SWR check should reveal if a open antenna or a shorted one----you with a ohm meter should get a reading across the center pin to the threaded part of something like 50 ohms---either the antenna, coax or even the radio....

SOURCE: CB radio recieves but does not transmit.

I would recommend that you put an swr meter (CLICK HERE) between the radio and the antenna to see if your radio is transmitting anything at all. Also, it will check to see if your radio is correctly matched to your antenna. If your antenna is not matched correctly it will fail to transmit correctly.

SOURCE: I purchased a Midland 1001z

Vibrations on the small cb's make the internal circuit boards come loose and its intermitted or will not RX or TX.. Check the antenna with another cb. using an SWR METER.. or have someone check it.. SWR should be free if you take it to them.. to check.. Make sure the antenna, mounts, and coax are ok.. if soo then its in the cb itself .. Email us if you need more help or need the radio looked at, the post office has flat rate boxes cheap nowadays. were in Temple, TX at the CB SHop.

Cb has power but no squelch, can't recieve or transmit

Begin with
  • Volume knob 12 o'clock position
  • Squelch knob full counter clockwise
  • RF gain knob full clockwise
  • Pa/CB switch to CB
  • Mic plugged in
  • Check coax and antenna connections.
  • Make sure your antenna gommet/insulator is installed correctly or it will directed gound. Treat antenna shaft as it is the positive portion of circuit.
If you have another CB check the antenna system with that rig. To verify it is a radio issue. Then dig deeper Microphone, PLL chip, Audio chip etc.

I can recieve on my CB but cannot transmit

sounds like thats a regular antenna wire. cb radio normally have a pl259 plug. and you need a propper cb antenna not one that has am/fm plug. cb antennas require tuning using a SWR meter.

Cobra 29 ltd classic cb not transmitting

Check the ground. Make sure its grounded well on bare metal. To see if the ground is bad, or not making good connection, disconnect the antenna and turn it on. if it does not power up, that means your ground is bad, and it was grounding only through the antenna.

Make sure not to key up with out the antenna connected.

Cant transmit out

Not really enough info to help you, but you MUST check the SWR of your antenna system. I've seen many cases where the antenna studs were incorrectly installed, shorting the antennas to ground. Also, make sure the Dynamike control on the CB radio is turned fully clockwise.
