SOURCE: handset has No link to base

I was having the same problem with the same model phone, and fixed the problem by rebooting the phone – unplugging the AC and phone cord from the base station and plugging both back it, then removing and replacing the handset to regenerate the security code.

SOURCE: Handset No Link To Base error and no dial tone

My battery is a Ni-Cd. I bought it new on eBay (TL26554 battery number). I allowed the new battery to charge for a long time and then tried to see if it would work. But no go....the handset gave me the same error message. Good Luck to you too! Mmmmmm

SOURCE: Handset ?No Link To Base? error and no dial tone

2/29 Have you registered or re-registered the handset?
"No link" can mean handset is not accepting radio wave of base unit. At Mfgr website pull-down operator's manual and look for registration instructions. Some sequence of buttons will create a radio signal from base (have handset off base) then another sequence of buttons on handset will accept radio signal. If handset has "menu" button, try "menu", then "00" (zero zero) then select an accept or "OK" button. Good luck.

SOURCE: GE Model 27911 DECT 6.0 Additional Cordless Handset not working

I had the same problem. What worked for me, after several unsuccessful registration attempts, was to disconnect the phone handset battery for about 1 min and then reconnect the battery. Run the handset registration procedure again. It registered for me on the first attempt after the battery reinstall. Good luck.

SOURCE: Uniden DSS7955 Cordless phone problems

I had the same problem!

What you need to do is hold the "end" and "#" key for 5 sec, which will deregister the headset then all you would have to do is place it back in the base for it to registered again.

Battery charged displaye no link to base

Many models of cordless phones that have multiple handsets require the handset to be cradled in the base unit for identification and link. As long as the handset maintains a charge, the identification remains valid. If you remove the battery or drain the handset to a point where the handset ID is lost, then you may have to re-cradle the handset in the base unit to reestablish link.

Phone says searching

Bring the handset that says searching into the same room as the base and see if the handset stops searching. Next unplug the handset batteries (yes from all handsets) and the base power cord (from both the base and the wall outlet). Wait a few minutes and then reconnect the batteries and base power cord. Next try to de-register and then re-register the handsets. (If you add a comment with the phone model, I'll help you with this step. Uniden has the manuals for their phones on their site: http://www.uniden.com/bin/venda?ex=co_disp-view&bsref=uniden&scat=dectphones_mnl .)

If this doesn't help, next try a new battery (and make sure that the battery is fully charged) for the phone. (If the phone is under warranty, contact Uniden. Note: batteries lose their ability to hold a charge over time. This includes the time on the shelf in the package.)

If a new battery doesn't help, then there is something wrong with the handset. Decide if it is worth having the unit fixed if the phone is out of warranty.

I hope this helps.

(I'm assuming that both handsets are cordless. If you have a corded/cordless model, then check that the base has power before you go farther with the above diagnostics. The power brick should be warm. We had a cordless phone on a power strip (UPS) that got turned off. The handset was searching for a signal that wasn't being sent. If you have power to the base, try sending the Find Handset message. The problem could be either the base or the handset not sending and receiving the signals between them.)

Hi I have a Cordless Uniden Dect 6.0 and also another one that sitts on a bitter base. My problem is this: the cordless with the smaller base shows the message 'Searching' and wont do anything,...

Welcome to FixYa.

Reset the units/set up by doing the following:
  • Turn OFF all the HANDSETS.
  • Remove the batteries of the HANDSETS.
  • Unplug the power source of the BASE.
  • Unplug the phone line of the BASE.
  • Let it stay that way for 30 mins.
  • Insert the battery again of the HANDSETS, make sure it is charged properly.
  • Plug back the power source of the BASE.
  • Plug back the phone line to the BASE.
  • Register any handset that is unregistered (refer to manual).

Keep me posted.

I have an AEG cordless phone (NOT cell phone) which needed new batteries. The batteries were put in but since the handset has recharged it doesn't work. It doesn't get a line and whenI try to use...

If it's one of the multi-phone units, it needs to be placed in the base/main unit charging cradle to allow it to reprogram to that base.

I have a GE model 25836CE-B cordless phone. My problem is this: when the phone is off the charger base, after a few minutes it will keep on beeping even if no one pressed the paging button at the charger...

Actually, you can't overcharge the battery. The base is designed to hold the handset indefinitely. Once the battery is charged it doesn't do any damage. You probably just don't have the battery charged enough to use the phone. Leave the handset on the base overnight, let the thing charge, and it should work properly.

I have Uniden DECT1480-3. I purchased two expandable handsets, but I cannot figure out how to get the new handsets to register with the base unit.

Up to 6 handsets can be registered with the DECT 1480 phones. I have the 5 phone unit and needed to add the 6th phone. All I got was "Searching" in the display and the battery wouldn't even charge!

So here's what you have to do to get additional phones (up to 6 units) to work with the base. If you can get past step 1, it's a snap...

Step 1: Place a charged battery in the handset. This could be a problem if all your handsets are not registered, since unregistered phones don't charge (who thought of that design?). What I did was SWAP the battery from an already registered and charged phone with the new unregistered phone.

Step 2: Here's where the magic happens. Press the 'END' and '#' keys simultaneously... hold them down until a System Reset menu appears. Select "Deregister HS" and press Menu.

Step 3: Now, do the same thing again (hold down END and #), but this time select Base Unavailable and press Menu. You will see Base Unavailable Yes/No... Select Yes. Then place the handset in the base, wait a few seconds, and Voila!. it's registered. You can even change handset numbers using this menu if you play around with it.

Thank you, helpful employee at Costco for supplying the magic code. And hey there, UNIDEN... including this in the operation manual would have saved many customers much grief with de-registered phones!

Enjoy!

Both handsets of the new 2801 we bought will not maintain charge

This condition is usually caused by a battery that has been charged too much or incorrectly. It has developed a memory and now can only hold a very small charge. I believe it is time for new batteries!

ELBT595 Handset Not Turning On

Check the handset battery -- if there is a slight "bulge" on one side (ie: not COMPLETELY flat) then the problem is with the battery. I had that problem and had to order a new one. That said, I just installed the new battery, and while it now charges, the handset won't connect to the base unit. The base unit works (tried the speakerphone), but there is not connection between base and handset.
