I have a kitchenaid Superb refrigerator KSCS25INSS01 and the temps are warmer than normal.

For acouple of days the fridge temp read 57 and the freezer about 18. it was makinig a whirring noise followed a few seconds later by a low volume click. I had a repairman come out and say (without performing any real diagnostic work as far I'm coverned) that I need a new control panel. Does this seem reasonable? After he left, I fully removed the back panel, unplugged the fridge and plugged it back in again. the temps went down to the recommended values (37 and 0) and the frigde sounded okay. this morning, temps are still the same but the fridge is back to making the whirring/click noise.

I have a similar problem, I have the same model number, mine is too cold in the the refrigerator but has the same " whirring/click noise" .I have removed the back cover and observed the condenser fan motor cycling on and off in 10 second or so intervals. the compressor is not trying to start so my guess is the control board is bad. I was hoping you have solved your problem before I buy a $250.00 part or a new "Frig" this one is 8 years old.
Lil help?

SOURCE: No Cooling

hi there,

sounds like you may have a compressor problem. most compressors have a longer warranty on them, so i would recommend that you contact an authorized service center and have them come and take a look at it.

thanks

SOURCE: Refrigerator is not getting cold

pull you refrig away from the wall and look behind the cardboard cover you will see the compressor (big black bowling ball looking thing). we need to determine if it is running you should here a low consistent hum. if the compressor is not running you will probably hear a humming and clicking noise about every 3-5 mins indicating the compressor is trying to start but shutting back down. the culprit is usually the start relay loated on the side of the compressor. this is a plug and play part and very easy to repace yourself get pt#8201786 from whirlpool the good instructions for replacing the part. good luck peyton

Hi,
As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer2_bing.gif and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

My temp setting does not match my output temp

I have a recurring problem with a GE Profile PSB48LSRABV. Here's an example sequence:
  • Fresh food compartment set to 37F on the control panel (for months)
  • Thermometer in fridge reads 46F (with lots of water inside per manual)
  • Press "Display Temp" button, display shows fridge at 37F
  • Turn power off, count to 15, turn power on, wait for control panel to boot
  • Press "Display Temp" button, display shows fridge at 46F (matches thermometer!)
  • Compressor runs and cools fresh food compartment
  • Hours later thermometer in fridge reads 37-38 (yeah!)
  • Press "Display Temp" button shows fridge at 37F
  • Within days, the fridge is warmer inside again, thermometer inside reads 45+, but display reads 37 - unit needs to be "rebooted" again!
Fresh food thermistor from top of cabinet measured properly in ice water (and warmer water), the unit has always passed all the self-tests, and condensor coils and fan are clean, so I had techs come give it a shot under home warranty:
  • Trip 1 - Tech came to assess, ordered new evaporator fan
  • Trip 2 - Replaced fresh food evaporator fan (note new fan is working in fridge, and old fan works fine on bench)
  • Trip 3 - Ordered main computer PCBA
  • Trip 4 - Replaced main computer PCBA
Unfortunately, it continues the same cycle of misreading the temperature until power cycles, and taking a day off of work for each visit is getting painful.
Any ideas?

Kitchenaid side by side refrigerator/power is on/control panel display is lit up/Cooling is on/how do I reset the Temperature Display to get freezer at 0 degrees and fridge at 37 degrees

the temp you see are the temp valve inside, the set temp is only displayed while you are setting it. It maybe in defrost and you would see higher that set temp valves, if after an hour you do not see the temp come back down to normal operating values you should then see additional assistance.

I have Kitchen Aid french door fridge with large temp fluctuation. Please help

Clean your coils first, if they are dirty from dog hair or lint in general it will overheat compressor and cause temps to fluctuate

A kenmore side by side model 106 5661 2500 has warm refer and cold freezer

If the freezer temps are normal and the refrigerator is warmer than normal, the the air flow from freezer to refrigerator is being hampered either by ice on the evaporator or the freezer is stuff in such a way that normal airflow between freezer and fridge is hampered. If the auto defrost is not working properly you will have warmer freezer temps and a relatively warm refridge. Check the defrost timer and defrost heater element.

Hotpoint ffp187b

The temp sensors, or thermostat may not be correctly reading the temperature. if the temp sensor reads the wrong temp for example it'll think its warmer than it actually is and keep running to try and satisfy the tstat.

Freezer temp too high

Air must circulate in the freezer when working properly. I am guessing the recirculating vent in the freezer may be blocked which would not bring warmer air back to the coil to be cooled. As for the door, I theorize there may be too much negative pressure which pulls the door in while you were pulling out ... don't have solution yet.

Kitchenaid superba refer side by side

its normal for the temperature to stay around 28 degrees farenheight int the bottom drawer. (fresh cut meat keeps better at his temp). you can adj the temp slide near the bottom of the refrig next to the botom drawer to help adj temp. veggies will almost always freeze in the bottom drawer. also adj the temp controls to a little bit warmer to help as well.

Keep in mind the mid point settings on your refrig is just a starting point for you to adj to where it works best for you and your usage..
