Stanley intellisensor 77-110 schematics - Stanley 77 115 Intellisensor Plus Stud Sensor

Try changing the battery, usually a 9 volt.

I hate to tell you this as you are an electrician but often it is best to look for the simple solution. My Stanley IntelliSensor Pro was doing the same thing here is the answer:
CHANGE THE BATTERY

I had this problem as well. The solution was to replace the 9 volt battery that it runs on. The beep was much louder and it calibrated correctly. Apparently the old battery was enough to make the beeping sound but not strong enough to emit the energy required to penetrate the drywall.

Hold the unit flat on the wall. Press and hold the side button (you will hear one short beep). Holding it to the wall, slide the sensor left or right, when you get near a wall stud, the lights will begin lighting up, when centered on the stud, the top light will be lit and it will beep continuously.

• Place the unit flat against the wall.
• Press and hold the button.
• The LED will come on for a second or two then go out.
• Slowly move the unit laterally until the LEDs come on again.
• When they top out, that is the beginning of the stud.
• When they start to go back down, that is the end of the stud.

That's about it..

You need to change detector tip sensor OR re-calibrate the unit.

When the window opens type 77 115 in the search block and click on "Search". (NOTE: Leave a space between 77 and 115 or this will not work.)

The Instruction manual should be on top of the list that appears.

Click on the link under the "Article Name". (77-115 Intellisensor Plus Instructions)

On the next window click on the small icon under "Format". That will open up a PDF file for you. Save it to your computer for future use.
