SOURCE: Water Freezing in bottom of Freezer and dripping out front of freezer door

this could either be a blocked drain from the freezer not allowing defrost water to escape or the defrost heater failing to turn on due to a faulty defrost heater or defrost timer not enabling the water to escape

The drain under the evaporator is frozen/plugged.  You can take the back panel inside the freezer off and run hot water down it to thaw it out completely and this will solve your problem.

SOURCE: water leaking onto floor

unplug it again , sounds like your drain line has frozen, instaead of defrost water going down the tube and under refrig in drain pan, becuse tube is frozen its draining into freezer compartment and eventually spilling out through front of unit. totally defrost unit and behind back wall of freezer youll see a metal trough designed to catch water, in the center (under the ice is gonna be the drain hole, pour boiling water down until it runs freely

SOURCE: Bottom of freezer has water dripping into it

We had a similar problem. It ended up being a frozen pea that fell down into the defrost drain and was blocking the water from draining out each time the freezer defrosted.

SOURCE: Ice build up in freezer

Defrost system failure.

Defrost timer, heater, therma disk, any one could be bad.

You could manually defrost and this would get the Ref back to working for a couple of days before it iced up again. Remember there is a lot of ice build up on the cooling coils in the freezer that you can't see so, a little extra time with a hair dryer is needed to do a complete manual defrost.

The panel on the freezer door for ice and water has no power

Mine wasn't getting any Ice and I tried several filters but that wasn't the problem. There is a coil of plastic tubing that froze in the left bottom corner. If that is your problem, take the cover off and use a hair dryer to thaw. Hope that helps

Water dispesner does not work but ice maker does

This happened to me a couple of times, when I didn't use the dispenser for a few days while on vacation. What happened to my water tanks is that they froze between the dispenser and the filter. pull out the bottom drawers and remove the tank covers on the left side. This is all the way in the lower left corner of the fridge compartment. The lines seem to freeze back there, so get a hair dryer and thaw them out!

Freezer icing up

Experienced this problem with Evaporator coil icing up (coil is located inside back wall of the freezer compartment; the ice/frost was visibly blocking the series of louvers or slots along the bottom of the freezer back wall. I think the power outage caused partial melting of an already somewhat iced coil, but when the power was restored the water on the coil just froze solid. When these slots become obstructed the Refrigerator will not cool to its proper 36-40 deg.F temperature and the compressor motor runs frequently and the noise level is louder than usual. SOLUTION: fastest and safest way to Defrost this iced up coil is: (1) turn off 120V power / unplug refrigerator from the outlet; (2) remove all food to another refrigerator / freezer and take out ice cube tray & flip icemaker bail wire to its up (off) position - but leave top freezer basket in-place; (3) remove Bottom freezer basket (which should lift up and out; (4) move refrigerator away from wall - and carefully unscrew and remove white-painted, rectangular metal panel at bottom in the back....... you will see a white plastic water tray below a small fan with black plastic blades...... have a 3x5 cellulose sponge and bucket handy...... (5) open freezer door all the way and set a 21-inch box fan on the floor in the opening or area where the Bottom freezer basket was removed... put a single towel on floor under the box fan if there is significant frost on the bottom of the freezer compartment (there should not normally be any); (5) turn the fan to "Medium" speed with air flow pointing toward the freezer... you will be amazed at how much faster this works than pans of hot water or hair dryers (the latter is potentially damaging and dangerous); (6) with a flashlight you should soon see the water drip-drip-dripping from a spot at the center and bottom of the Evaporator coil - where it goes down a white tube and into the white plastic pan beneath the small fan you saw in Step #4; after awhile (maybe 20 minutes) check the white plastic tray in the back - which will be full of water (sponge it out)... continue defrosting with the 21-inch box fan... check the plastic tray again - and sponge out the excess water. A completely iced-up coil will probably fill the plastic tray three times. Eventually the water will stop dripping - which means the Evaporator coil is completely defrosted. There may be some water that gets onto the floor under the left side of the refrigerator which you will have to wipe up. Reattach the metal panel and reinstall the Bottom freezer basket and ice tray. This process takes long enough that you can clean the inside of the refrigerator while you're at it.

Water pooling in the bottom freezer

You most likely have a blockage in the condensate drain line. You should turn off the frig.and empty the freezer, take a hairdryer and melt the ice on the bottom of the freezer.somewhere in the back on the bottom you will see a small drain under the evaporator.you may have to remove the cover of the evaporator to find it.once you locat the drain its just a matter of blowing out the line with a piece of 3/8ths plastic tubeing.

General Elec. refrig. about 12 yrs. old. water in bottom of frig., cleaned up, found water a second time.

drain is cloged. at some point the ref section was set too cold. the defrost water from freezer drains through the ref back wall. becaust it was set too cold the drain froze. two ways to fix .... empty unit and unplug for 24 hrs. OR remove back panel, defrost drainrail, remove bottom panel ,remove ice, insert 1/4 inch tube down drain, and squirt very hot water down drain till it is clear of ice..... when defrosted set ref on "3"

Kennmore model 253

Unplug the unit, open the freezer door and look through the vents at the bottom of the back wall. With enough light you should see the alluminum coil through the vents. If there is ice/frost in the vents your coils are frozen up. Remove the cover on the inside back wall of the freezer you may need to remove the ice maker as well if you have one it just plugs into the back wall there is also a plug behind the cover to the back upper left corner. Once the cove is out of the way use a hair dryer to defrost the coils or leave the unit unpluged for a while. After all the ice is gone reinstall the cover and turn the unit on it will probably work for 3-10 days and then the process must be repaeted again. I replaced the defrost thermostat on mine 2 weeks ago and all is good so far. The defrost thermostat is a little round device that snaps onto the small copper line in the upper right corner behind back cover it has 2 blue wires and cost's about $20.

Hope this helps
