I cant find the webcam icon

you have looked in your pictures and are none from webcam there?

right click your web. cam and trouble shoot then when asked fix.

If the driver is not found on the disk you can download he driver in the Lenovo website. Click here to download. Select the Camera driver for your operating system. After the installation of your webcam you can press FN + ESC button to turn on your webcam.

Check Control Panel>Devices and Printers. if the camera is installed, you should see the Acer Crystal Eye webcam. if you do not see the webcam, You will have to get the driver from either the web or HP.
If you see the webcam, Double click the webcam icon and click hardware>properties to check for proper operation. if everyting is fine, then the application you are using needs to be looked at.
If the webcam is not working properly according to the device status, right click the webcam icon in the Devices and Printers window and follow the instructions.

You have a laptop and it has a built in mic
You need to nominate your webcam mic as default

TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray or from Control Panel
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
To set required (webcam) mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click 'OK'
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

Restart computer

UPDATE ITS DRIVER FROM DEVICE MANAGER.

search in c:/program files/name of web cam/

ok try plugging the webcam in the computer first and see what it brings up then install the disc

If its a dark screen what you can see then you can do one thing "on the cam window under OPTIONS check/uncheck the PREVIEW option" and check if its working.
If it says "no video capture device found" then the drivers you have installed are not fully compatible with VISTA, for this you can do one thing---
1. Remove the previously installed webcam drivers, delete the installation folder from Program Files if its still there, disconnect (unplug) the webcam, reboot the system , Scan the registry using ccleaner (freeware).
2. Install the program you use to access the web cam (eg: amcap etc).
3. Now attach the webcam (be connected to the internet), when the driver installation screen pops up click "Install automatically" it will search for the system files for the drivers or go to the windows update (this works many times) if not found.

Once done & successfully installed the webcam shall work fine now.

Never mind--- Just needed to restart the computer-- works fine now!
