you need the unlock code from the manufacturer. I had a radio lock up but the company had me send it to them for them to unlock. i had to prove that i bought it and it was not stolen.
It is pretty easy, there is not much labor involved if it has anti-lock brakes in the rear you will also have to un-plug the wire harness attached to hubs.
try unhooking the cars battery for fifteen minutes then hooking it back up. they probably did this at the shop when they were finished to clear the engine trouble codes. my car radio recently acted up all i had to do was unhook the battery then it worked like new.
