SOURCE: Kirby Belt Lifter Assembly

I have tried to get a parts breakdown for your vacuum cleaner with no success. The way that then washers should go is the flat smotth metal washer on the inside followed by the fibre washer and the wavy washer on the outside. The waves are used to bite into the plastic so it cannot work loose.

SOURCE: Belt and lifter getting hot right away on start up.

Hello,
I would say that it is definitely running backwards. I have a guide to replacing the power switch that outlines the reassembly of the Kirby and tells you which carbon brush wire plugs into which hole on the power switch. Each carbon brush has a letter (B or O) and the same two letters are on the switch to help you get the wires back on right. (the "B" attaches to the "B" and the "O" attaches to the "O") Here is the link to the guide and I hope it helps,...

Kirby heritage 2 How to put the belt on. I'm having a problem getting the belt on the rod

The belt goes around the brushroll before you install the brushroll in the nozzle compartment, you must then twist the belt lifter casting which will rotate the belt lifter hook to lift the belt into the proper location to allow you to install the nozzle compartment on the vacuum. Then rotate the belt lifter casting to release the belt onto the motor shaft.

I can't get the screws out to replace the belt on my carpt shampooer...

No screws need to be taken out on a Kirby for a belt change. Take the nozzle off, remove the base plate with the 2 twist locks, pull the brushroll out. Puton the new belt, and re-assemble. Twist the belt lifter around the belt, replace the nozzle, spin the belt lifter back, and go vacuum

Converting to shampoer

Starting with the shampooer brushroll, slip the belt over the brushroll, and install the brushroll into the bottom of tray.Install the brushroll housing over the brushroll, and looking thru the opening in the back of housing, turn the belt lifter counterclockwise untill the hook inside picks up the belt.Raise the height adjuster on the machine to it's highest settind.Install the entire assembly to the front of machine, and lock it down.Turn the belt lifter knob clockwise until the belt drops onto shaft. The elbow end of hose snaps into center of tray. There is a small plastic screen(size of a quarter)that fits onto the opening at tank.Without this screen, you wont get foam, only wet solution. There is a foam pad that must be installed at the air inlet opening at tank.Without this, dirt will enter tank, clogging it.Install tank onto blower side of machine.Lower height adjuster all the way down. You should now be ready to go.

I havent used my shampooer for over a year, and i am now having t

These are the parts-Tank,tray,brush roll, brushroll housing, belt, hose, foam screen(small, quarter sized plastic screen)large foam air filter,(should be on the air inlet at tank).

Starting with brushroll, install belt over brushroll, and place brushroll in the trayInstall the brushroll housing over the top of tray..Looking thru the back, turn the belt lifter knob until the hook inside picks up the belt.Raise the height adjuster on the Kirby all the way up.Attach the entire assembly to the front of maching, and lock it on.Now turn the belt lifter clockwise until the belt drops onto shaft.Snap the elbow end of hose to tray. Before attaching the other end of hose to tank, make sure the foam screen is fitted onto the small outlet at tank, then install hose.Note:Sometimes the screen will be in the tank end of hose allready.Without this screen, you wont get foam, only solution.Make sure the foam air filter is installed in the large opening at the tank,or dirt will get into tank, clogging it.Install the tank to the blower side of machine. You should be ready to go.Lower the height adjustment all the way down.

Don't know how to change belt on the 2001 G limited edition, having problem taking off the brush.

Raise the height adjustment to it's highest setting.Turn the belt lifter knob on the brushead counterclockwise till it stops.Remove the brushead, then turn the belt lifter clockwise till it stops, releasing the belt.Turn the brushead around to the back. You will see 2 latches holding the brush plate assembly on.Unlatch those, and remove the brushroll assembly.Remove the brushroll from the plate by bending the tabs at one end to release the brush.Remove the old belt, and slide the new one over the brushroll. If you remove the entire brushroll, install it with the screw heads facing the floor. The ends of the brush roll have different size caps, one end is larger than the other, and one is black, one is white. This is so the brush will only go in one way.
Re-install brushroll assembly, latch it down.Look thru the opening in the back, and turn the belt lifter till you see the hook pick up the belt.Install the entire brushead on the front of the vacuum, and lock it down, then turn the belt lifter to drop the belt onto the shaft.Lower the height adjustment, and you are ready to go.

Kirby ultimate g

Vibrating – that usually happens on some short fiber or very dense carpets. When nozzle goes against the carpet fiber Kirby starts jumping. Try vacuuming the same place while facing opposite way.

Belt – red arrows means DISENGAGE. When you install the nozzle on the Kirby unit while green arrows match you will not be able to turn it on red. You must follow sequence (starting from nozzle off the Kirby, green arrows match, Kirby front lifter all the way up by pressing one of the pedals):
1. Turn Kirby knob to match red arrows. You will feel some tension and hook inside of the nozzle is supposed to catch the belt and stretch forming a loop for the Kirby shaft.
2. Put the nozzle on the Kirby and lock it on with the latch.
3. Twist the knob back to match the green arrows. YOU ARE DONE

Go to GoodVac.com Kirby vacuum online manual. There are some small details that you may want to pay attention to if you have removed the brush roll to install a new belt. Also there are some pictures that will help you understanding the process.

Kirby G6 attaching fluffer brush on shampooer

Sure can,

You have two choices,
1.) To use your shampoo attachment, you'll need the fluffer shield, To set up the attachment seperate the tray assembly (the part that holds the roller brush) from the nozzle assembly (the part that attaches to the machine). Now seperate the roller brush from the tray (easiest way is to pull the belt). Insert the roller brush into the fluffer shield (it only goes one way). Insert the fluffer shield with the roller brush installed into the nozzle assembly the plastic shield will be faced towards the front of the machine. Turn belt lifter to where the red arrows match and attach to the front of the machine. Turn belt lifter to where the green arrows match and you should be in business.

2.) Your using the floor buffing attachment it the easiest method just put on like the floor nozzle (thing you vacuum with).

How do i put together my kirby carpet shampoo system?

Vacuum thoroughly before shampooing for maximum cleaning. Then, remove the bag and the Power Nozzle to prepare for shampooing. Turn the Carpet Shampoo System Nozzle Belt Lifter to the right of the center position (fully clockwise) until the green arrows line up. a4bbc62.jpg Slide the slots on the side of the Carpet shampoo system over the outer shoulders of the Carpet Shampoo System Tray. e14fe2e.jpg While pushing up on the Belt with your finger, turn the Belt Lifter left (counter- clockwise looking at it from the front) until the red arrows line up. (The Belt Lifter Hook will catch and stretch the belt.)

Press the bottom Toe Touch Pedal all the way down to raise the front of the Kirby.

While sliding the carpet shampoo system Nozzle/Tray Assembly toward the Kirby and over the Motor shaft, connect the hooks on the bottom rear of the nozzle to the Attaching Bar.

Push the nozzle up against the Kirby and turn the Accessory Lock to the
right (clockwise) to lock the nozzle in place. To engage the belt, turn the Belt Lifter
all the way to the right (clockwise) until the green arrows line up. Then lower the Headlight Hood
