My HP 3272N LCD TV just stopped working. No picture no sound just the blue light. Is it worth fixing?

Most common problem with all LCDs and Plasma is Bad Capacitors on power supply board they will be swollen or vented on Top. I would call a Repair shop and ask what they charge to check it out and if they offer to subtract the check out Fee from the repair Bill . Thats what I do when sets are bought in example if check out fee is 50.00 and I tell you it will cost $125.00 to repair set and you say Fix It, then when you come to pick up set Repair bill will be $75.00
Price the cost of a New set ,compared to having set repaired.

My picture breaks up and I loose sound. usually while viewing something I've recorded on my DVR. is it my tv or the cable? or the channel itself?

If it is only during watching a recording on the DVR then it may be the DVR that is the problem. Does a recording always break up at the same point? If so then the recording itself is bad and this may be due to a poor signal being received. If the breakup occurs randomly then the DVR may not be able to read the data from the recording media (Hard disk or DVD - you did not specify). The obvious first step is to try the DVR on another TV.

Tv is only 3 yrs old. Power comes on but no sound or picture. Menu will not come up either.

Check your power supply for popped capacitors.

They look like these:

Replace with SAME uF value and HIGHER Voltage value. EX: 1000uF 10v --> 1000uF 35v

Thank you!

I'd like to connect my HP laptop to Yamaha 663 receiver

Connect your S-video output from the computer to an empty S-video input on the receiver. Connect your speaker output from computer to analog audio input on the receiver using a 1/8" stereo connector to RCA patch cable. You may have to set your computer to output video to the S-video jack, consult your HP documentation for instructions.
