Replacing a stereo into a 2005 Saturn Ion

I was going to splice the wires from the new $80 Boss stereo (x-mas gift) to the wire harness from the old stereo that does plug into the saturns wire harness plug but I have an orange illumination wire and an orange and white wire that I'm not sure what to do with??? I don't even know what the orange and white wire is? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

Not sure if your still looking for a solution or not but here you go. that orange and white wire is normally the wire that controls the dimmer within the stereo. when you dim the dash light the factory radio lights dim and that wire is suppose to make the new radio do that also. in my past i have found that only about 30 percent of the aftermarket radios actually do that when hooked up. give this a try and let me know. good luck

No sound.

The first thing you need to do is doublechecking all the new wirings, it sounds like a contact.

I am trying to exchange the stereo in a 2005 saturn view and wiring colors dont match the new stereo...How do I know what is what?

You should buy the the wiring harness for your vehicle and then you wont have a problem because it will have the proper color connections for your new headunit. You can purchase the wiring harness at any car stereo or electronics store that sells car stereos.

I want to put my stereo in my car that i just got, but the wires that are in the dont match the wires on the back of my cd player. why is this?

because you will actually need to take the wiring harness off of the original stereo and splice the old harness to the new stereo

How to hook up the pioneer stereo to wire harness?

Not real clear on question, but you can buy a direct fit wire harness and the wires are color coded so you don't have to cut and splice your wires on your factory harness. The harness hooks to your factory plug and you wire it to your pioneer stereo wires. Harness is about 7.99 up at most stores.

Replacing my stereo harness? or getting it to fit my aftermarket

should go to any local junkyard to get the stock harness, or you can decipher and splice each vehicle wire to the appropriate wire on the stereo. If it was me, i'd go the junkyard route, much easier in the long run.
