Playback difficulties i'm having issue recording and playing back my recordings on my camera. I recorded some work for a project, but the next day the tape was not working. That day, I recorded and it played back fine, but the next night it was not working again. It's working fine now. I thought maybe I had changed a recording setting, but i haven't touched a thing.
Perhaps these cameras only work before 4 PM?
Not specific enough but I would run a head cleaner thru it for 10 seconds and see if that improves things and always use the same brand of tape to prevent gum issues.

If you are experiencing issues with the playback on your Yashica Samurai Video 8 KX-77 Video Camera Recorder, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
Clean the playback heads: Use a head-cleaning cassette or a cotton swab moistened with isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the playback heads. Dirty heads can cause playback issues and poor picture quality.
Check the tapes: Ensure that the video tapes you are trying to play are in good condition and not damaged. Inspect the tape for any signs of damage or deformation that could affect playback. If the tapes are damaged, you may need to try a different tape or have the damaged tapes repaired.
Adjust the tracking: Use the tracking control on the camera recorder to adjust the playback tracking. The tracking control helps align the playback heads with the tape tracks for optimal playback quality. Experiment with adjusting the tracking to see if it improves the picture quality.
Test with different tapes: If possible, try playing different video tapes to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is specific to certain tapes or if it is a broader issue with the camera recorder itself.
Seek professional service: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to seek professional repair or servicing for the camera recorder. Contact a reputable camera repair shop or the manufacturer's customer support for assistance.
When you play the video back and get no sound are you doing this on your camera or on the computer? I have the same camera, and noticed that when I playback something I've recorded I don't have sound either, mind you I don't have static either. But once I've uploaded the video onto my pc the sound is there.
To record to the DVD, connect the A/V cables from the JVC GR-D347U to the A/V In on the DVD recorder. Since the DVD already plays to the TV, you just have to keep the TV set to that input. Put a blank DVD in the recorder. Set the DVD recorder to record on from the appropriate Line In (input) with the DVD as the target recording media. To make sure that all of the devices are on and receiving the output from the camera and DVD recorder, start playback on the GR-D347U and check that it displays on the TV. Forward the tape in the camera to the point where you want to record to the DVD. Stop playback. Press REC for the DVD recorder and restart your playback. Press stop for both the DVD recorder and then the camera when the desired video segment has been played back.

To playback, set camera to Playback. Need further info, let me know. Thanks.
If it plays back pre recorded tapes then there is nothing wrong with that section of the unit. Does it playback audio and not picture or does it not playback anything.
Also, when trying to playback a recording what is seen of the screen? Snow(black and white dots or wiggly picture?
The unit uses two separate circuits to record and playback tapes. Is any thing else connected to the unit while you are recording? If you are using anything plugged into other ports on the recorder it may not see the camera input causing it to not record anything..
