Hello,

The pix does not allow you to block urls except if you use it in conjunction with websense for example. You could however deny all outgoing traffic to port 80 except for the ip address of the websites you want to be able to access.

To do that you would setup an access-list allowing you internal network to access certain ips on port 80 and deny all other traffic outgoing.

Let me know if you need more information on how to accomplish this.

Why can't i log into facebook

This could be caused by a few problems.

First, look at the date and time on your computer to ensure that they are set correctly. If not, then set them properly. The reason for this is that many websites such as facebook actually use https (the "s" means secure) rather than http to help protect their users. If the clock is off on the computer, then that invalidates the security certificate and disallows the ability to login securely and successfully.

Second, if that does not help, try clearing any saved password and cookies for facebook so as to force re-entry of your login credentials in case something got hosed. At the same time, clear your Internet cache as there could be something afoul with it as well.

Third, check any software firewall you are running to insure that facebook has not been blocked. How one checks blocked websites varies from one firewall application to another, so I cannot give you any specific directions as to how to investigate this possibility. Just make sure that if facebook is listed, you set it to Allow (or something similar) rather than Block.

These are the most likely issues but there could also be problems with viruses, some sort of restriction or misconfiguration of your router (some routers have the ability to block certain domains from being accessed), or even an entry in the hosts file redirecting the common name of facebook.com back to an erroneous IP address such as the loopback address of 127.0.0.1

If you do not get the issue resolved with these suggestions, get in touch with a local computer repair professional and I am sure that he will be able to fix it for you quickly.

How can i unblock block websites from my administrator account

1. Your router settings.
2. A personal firewall (e.g. software based firewall like Commodo Firewall or
any other third-party version).
3. The Windows host-file under C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc directory.
4. Your WebBrowser site restriction settings.

For Internet Explorer:

1. Open Internet Explorer 8.
2. Click Tools and select Internet Options.
3. Select Security tab.
4. Go to restricted websites and
check if the site address are added
there, AFAIK, if a website is added there then
you'll get the 401 message.
5.
The best advice would be to click Reset all zones to
default level.
For Mozilla Firefox:

I suggest you have a look at the following links:

Unblock Websites
Many schools and companies have cracked down on Internet usage.
Sites that are labeled as "unnecessary" are frequently blocked and inaccessible by the user.
However, it's very easy to unblock a website and regain access to it.
Here are a few tips on how to do it.

Determine which blocked websites you would like to gain access to.
Choose a website that features an "Unblock" tool to help you.

Enter the URL in the appropriate section on the website.
Usually there will be a button to click that says "Unblock Me" click it.
Attempt to gain entry onto the blocked website.
If for some reason it didn't work, you may want to try another unblocking website.
Clear the Internet history.

Access your router via the built in configuration page, default is http://192.168.1.1. I'm assuming you're the administrator; If not, contact him/her. At the top of the window, select the "Access Restrictions" tab. The policies will be listed and can be modified.

Blocked Services: You may choose to block access to certain services. Click Add/Edit Services to modify these settings.

Website Blocking by URL: You can block access to certain websites by entering their URL.

Website Blocking by Keyword: You can block access to certain website by the keywords contained in their webpage.

Firewall - access control settings

Short set of instructions on page 50

http://cache-www.belkin.com/support/dl/man_f5d8235-4_pm00736_0708.pdf

I'm still fooling around with it, but what I did to restrict access from my kid's machineto the internet was, browse to the router config page, default for my Belkin router is http://192.168.2.1 . Click Access Control on the menu, enable it, enter a password (this is separate from your router admin password), click the "Add" button, chose the system I wanted to restrict, specify the days and time I wanted to restrict (though I would like more flexibility here to select more than one time range), on the Service tab, verified that "Block All Services" was selected, on the URL List tab, verified that "Block all URLs" was selected, then clicked the "Apply Changes" button.

How can i block certain website (mostely the torrent site)parentally. And prevent from downloading the torrent PERMANENTLY.

I use TrendMicro (about $40/year for three machines). You have decent parental control with it. You may also use "Resticted Sites" settings in Internet Explorer but it may not be as secure for you. The TrendMicro software requires a password to allow settings to be changed...not sure about IE.
