Hi!

Make sure your lens is clean and free of any smudges or debris.

Ensure that you are far enough away from your subject that the minimum focusing distance has been achieved

Most auto-focus systems use contrast to detect what needs to be sharp. If you are shooting something that is all the same color, the camera will probably not be able to focus.

Make sure there is plenty of light on the subject; even if to the naked eye it looks like there is light, the camera focus system will have a hard time detecting your subject if it is not extremely well lit.

Hope that helps!

I had the same problem. It got corrected when I turned off several options in the menu, and later turned them back on. I have left the assist beam and AiAF off and it works fine.

SOURCE: Canon PowerShot A720 IS - "Lens error, restart camera".

This is probably THE most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here:

With my camera on Auto sometimes I get clear pictures and other times they are blurry.

Hi boutep,

The auto mode will not necessarily work when there is hand shake , it seems that , it will remove slight hand shakes and blurs , but that's not what it's meant for.

The auto mode is like a sensor to the surroundings and then adjusts the camera exposure and color settings accordingly.

Therefore remember whenever you take pictures , not to move the camera and it's always better to focus an image first by half pressing the button and then when the image is focused and green dot is coming on the screen , you go ahead and press the button fully.

Hope this helps ..:) Your feed back would be appreciated.

Have a canon digital elph sd750. Pictures are now blurry.

You could have cracked the lens, damage the focus or a number of other things but the lens and focus are most likely. check your lens for scratches if there is none and no cracks take it to your nearest camera store or buy new good luck!

Canon Powershot A630 - dark image in auto mode

Could it have something to do with "white balance"? http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=145&modelid=14108#SupportDetailAct

When the shooting mode is set to (Auto), the white balance will be applied automatically. However, with the (Auto) mode, the camera may not reproduce the natural color of the subject.

If this don't help, try their website and see if you can troubleshoot it. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=145&modelid=14108#SupportDetailAct

If all fails, buy a newer Canon Powershot. I've tried the newer models and they seem good.

Lens error and blurry photos

If your images are blurry and the lens wont move smoothly it is very probable that some kind of force on the lens has damaged a gear, barrel or even dislodged an element internally. When the lens detects an obstruction in its movement the camera reports accordingly,"lens error". You should have the camera checked by a service centre, it will most likely need the lens replaced as they are not serviceable.
