SOURCE: Not getting a drive letter from Compaq SCSI RAID setup

Did you see any new drives in the disk managemen screen? To get to the disk management, hold window key down and hit 'R', then type diskmgmt.msc and hit enter.

If you do see the drive in the lower half of the screen, you need to initialize the drive either as dynamic disk or basic disk. Then you need to add a new partition and format it.

Good luck.

One of the drives failed. Replaced the drive but all drive Red LEDs began to flash. Does this mean that the raid is rebuilding?

Most likely, yes. It can take several hours to rebuild depending on the size of your drives.

You can install Adaptec Storage Manager (assuming you're using an adaptec controller) to see what it's doing (and send you alerts on a drive failure).

If you have another brand controller, they should have some similar software to view the status of the RAID.

Hi. We have a ML110 server with RAID 5 (4x250gb HD SATA) in a Adaptec 2610SA. The RAID has 2 Arrays (#00 Operating System and #01 Data). We have tried to replace a failed HD and since then the Windows...

Did you make sure that your hard drive has been made into a "dynamic volume" instead to the usual "simple volume"? It has to be "dynamic" before your can put it into a RAID configuration. You will have to use your RAID Controller to create a dynamic volume or to make the hard drive part of a dynamic volume.

I put 2 disks in raid 0 array on this controller

When you say "after merging the driver via a floppy at the txt setup" I think you are referring to pressing the F6 key to load the raid drivers. But I don't understand "restarting setup".
You will need the correct XP64bit drivers loaded on a floppy for this to work.
Maybe a good place to start is a temporary install of XP using 32bit drivers to prove all components are working.

Problem with scsi driver proliant ml 370 for NT4

Are you attempting to boot from the Windows CD?

If you are booting the server from a Windows installation disk and it is unable to detect the hard drive, this typically means the following things.
You need to provide the driver for the RAID controller of the server (this can vary, depending on the version of the ML370 e.g. G4/G5)
If it still cannot detect the hard drive after providing the driver for the RAID controller or if there is not a driver available for NT4, it may not support the controller.
In this case you can remove the RAID set by entering the RAID setup (could be LSI or adaptec). NOTE THIS WILL DESTROY ALL DATA ON THE DISKS THAT ARE A PART OF THIS RAID SET.

Raid 0 on Intellistation 6221?

That particular work station comes with both IDE and SCSI drive interface controllers. The IDE drive should be used for your OS. The SCSI drives for your data storage. Now, the issue is to get the SCSI to work in RAID_0 as I understand.

You iwll need a RAID controller such as Adaptec AHA-3940AU WD SCSI Host Controller, which may be found on eBay (used) for a very affordable price. The driver software may be downloaded directly from Adaptec, so I suggest you do that in the iterim peroid, and store drivers on a USB thumb drive.

Hope this helps you.
