SOURCE: I cannot get to the drip pan under refridgerator to empty it. It is filled with sludge and smells bad

Thank willie for helping with one: "Well, it looks like the pan is a seperate plastic pan and not the compressor mounting pan like some of the newer ones are. It appears that you have to remove the condensor fan motor and mounting bracket then maybe the pan will left up and over the compressor, or maybe there is enough room to lift the pan up and out the front over the condensor coils"

SOURCE: loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

SOURCE: foul odor

Yes ,there is a condensate drain pan in the compressor compartment under your unit.
You should be able to get to it from the rear of the unit, by remove several screws.

Use caution and unplug unit before attempting any repair.
The pan can be cleaned out with warm soapy water.

Ice in bottom of freezer drawer. Drain pan is dry. Haven't been able to locate the drain hole.

You'll have to probe around and find it. It's likely that something is plugging up the line, possibly a slime mold that acts like gelatin where it plugs up the tube. You might be able to unplug the line using hot water in an ear syringe. Insert the syringe tightly before squeezing the bulb. You can use other methods or tools of getting the drain line cleared.

Model 610 - how do I locate the drip tray and how do I remove it? The power was lost after TC Marcia and products dripped in the fridge and freezer causing a terrible smell.

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

Plastic holds odors. The smell may not becoming from your drain pan, but more likely the liner.

What to do:

1.) Remove the shelves, ice bucket and crisper drawers and scrub them with a baking soda base cleaner.
2.) Scrub the liner walls.
3 .) There are deodorizers especially made for refrigerators; One for the fresh food section and one especially for the freezer section. You can get these for any appliance store.
4.) Ok, lets check the drain pan.
a.) Unplug your unit or turn the main breaker off.
b.) Raise the two leveling screws in the front to allow you tp pull your unit out.
c.) Having enough room to get behind your unit, unscrew the bottom cover.
d.) Observe. You either have the terrible drain pan design, where the drain pan is fixed on the top of the compressor with hi-temp adhesive. Do not attempt to remove. Over time the adhesive dries out and the drain pan falls off.
The other type of drain pan is almost just as bad. You have to unbolt the compressor and other things to access. Do not attempt this.
What field technicians do when there is a drain pan leak, is repair the leak with duct tape and a high temperature silicone adhesive. In this case if there is an odor, sprinkle 1/2 cup of baking soda around the drain pan.

Maytag Fridge MFF2558VEM is leaking water from bottom of unit. Suspect a clogged drain hole. Need to access the drip pan and clear drain hole. Drip pan is not behind the toeplate grill at the front

Fridge has a design issue. Duckbill drain valve clogs. They have a new ptrap drain replacement but you have to ask for it, as customer service will deny a problem exists. Here is the service bulletin which was supposed to be for internal use only! https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzIiBNwRIV4NNWJNNmx0andROGs/edit

Maytag mff2258vew2 french door bottom freezer leaks

The cabinet heater in freezer is may not be working and causing condensation on the walls of the freezer. Have it checked by a service man.. also make sure the refrigerator is level. and it is not over packed with food. Newer models must have a certain amount of space for the air to circulate.

Hi we have a maytag french door /bottom drawer freezer unit model# mf f 2558kes its appox 1.5 years old and the frezzer area gets water in the bottom and freezes about a 1/4 of a inch of ice on the entire...

This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer

My refrigerator won't cool (freezer still working)

The temp sensor is the most likely cause of this problem. However, you have other possible options that you can test and check:

likely the problem with your fridge is a bad dumper control. This is a part which operates with the air flow from the freezer into the fresh food compartment.
The dumper control is located in the in the upper left corner in the fresh food compartment.

You can remove the acess panel from the back, the grill from the front, even pull out the drip pan from underneath.(small socket or nutdriver is all you need) Flood the area with light, (Unplug the unit first) and I bet you will find the culprit up under there somewhere.
good luck
