Can't copy my disney vhs tapes to dvd

Bought a new Sony dvd recorder but cant record my disney vhs tapes to dvd, the recorder says cant read input then turns off

  • Anonymous Jan 19, 2009

    Me to same brand too

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

That is because the recorder reconizes the copy protection.  It is illegal to copy protected work and we cannot help you to do so.  I am sorry.

I'm assuming your Disney tapes are store-bought, as opposed to recorded off the air. If that's true, the reason you can't record them to your dvd recorder is because of copy-protection. Sorry...can't advise you how to break that.

Why won't the Sony controls let me click onto finalize using a Sony TV w/recoder to transfer VHS to DVD?

Is the VHS tape you are trying to record a commercial VHS tape (movie)? If so, it may have copy protection on it. The recorder is probably programmed to prevent you from making and using DVDs of commercial copy-protected VHS tapes.

I am trying to copy a VHS to DVD from a VHS player. I have a Sony VRD-MC6 multi-function DVD Recorder. I am using the A/V cable and have verified that they are correctly placed. The Sony player will...

Is it possible the VHS you're trying to copy is copy-protected? Apparently, the MC6 displays "waiting for signal" when you're attempting to copy a copy-protected (commercial) video. I had success converting my own homemade VHS tapes. I just bought my MC6, and thought I'd pass along some tips I got from others: You know you're recording when a red ring around the large Record button lights up and it actually says "recording" on screen, and adjust HQ to SP to get 2-plus hours of video on the DVD.

Have a toshiba tp 61H95 proj TV- want to connect panasonic dvd recorder and toshiba vhs recorder so I can copy family videos to dvd- can't get hook ups set up for both to work.

Select AV-1 or some thing in TV and plug DVD recorder Video-Audio output in AV-1 input of TV, playback any DVD and confirm its picture and sound in TV. Press Stop button of DVD recorder to stop playback.
Now plug Video-Audio output of VCR in DVD recorder input and select AV Input in DVD recorder, insert VHS tape in VCR and playback it and confirm you get VHS picture and sound in TV via DVD recorder.
Hookup between TV, DVD recorder and VCR is completed.
Playback VHS tape in VCR, Insert blank DVD disc in DVD recorder and press Record while you see VHS tape picture in TV.
Hope this info will help you.

RCA 8295n dvd-vcr combo starts recording from VHS tape to disk and then stops.

Is the VHS tape a store bought movie or show?

MacroVision and other copy protection systems are put into store bought tapes and discs of movies and shows, and are read by your recording equipment. Once it reads this, it stops recording.

Does the screen turn red before it stops? This is one of the indications that MacroVision is stopping you.

Funai dvd rcorder will not record to dvd

Are you trying to record a VHS tape to DVD? This won't work if the VHS tape is a commercial (disney, dreamwords, etc) because of an analog copy protection scheme known as Macrovision.

If you are trying to record, say, a broadcast signal and it will record to VHS and HDD, but the DVD errors out, then either the DVD drive is bad, or you have the incorrect type of recordable DVD in the player...

Recording purchased vhs tape to dvd recorder.

How old is the VHS tape? I've had success recording older movies, but the newer ones have encryption to prevent duplication of them. I've even tried playing them on another VCR and transmitting the signal with a wireless audio/video transmitter but unfortunately the encryption is still there. If you can copy the tape to another tape, then it may not have encryption. If that's the case, check you A/V inputs to see if you have them setup right.
