My Miele S2121 Olympus vacuum keeps turing itself off. It starts and then one second later it shuts off. I can only use it if I hold down the power button. I just changed the bag and filters, but still doesn't work.

When the light blinks and the unit shuts down it most likely needs to have its bag changed. You may find tha the bag is not up to the fill line, but is likely over a half. Our experience is to change the bag and the problem resolves.
You could try wearing the cleaner like a backpack...
I live in a small town and there are at least two businesses here where I could buy vacuum cleaner hose by the metre.
I have also seen purpose-made 1 metre hose extensions.
It isn't always easy but I have repaired and replaced hoses, changed ends and generally managed to use surplus and discarded hoses rather than buy new.
I suggest you approach the sort of business that supplies vacuum cleaners and washers and suchlike to other businesses rather than a high street type shop.
depending on the problem, it could be the thermostat this is next to the motor and if you are have trouble getting to the motor it has probably over heated and the plastic has melted together. as you can see the motor is in a small place and has a plastic case over the top the motor comes out through the top, hope this helps
Take the filters out and turn the vacuum on, if it will stay running without the filters in it you need to replace the filters. Filters should be replaced every few months. Clogged filters still pick up some dirt but miss a lot plus it causes the motor to run hot which will cause damage to the motor reducing it's life.
If she is suffering there are animal hospitals open 24/7/365 or if it is not an emergency, your vet will get you in sooner than later if it you explain she is hurting and it is necessary to get in to have your pet assesed.
THE PROBLEM SEAMS TO BE WITH THE THICKNESS OF THE CARPET AND THE PAD-ALL VACUUMS NEED TO BE ABLE TO BREATHE IF THE PAD AND THE CARPET ARE THICK THE VACUUM WILL PULL ITSELF TOWARD THE FLOOR SLOW DOWN THE BRUSHROLL ENOUGH TO TRIGGER THE AUTO SHUTDOWN ON THE MAGNESIUM BECAUSE THE VACUUM CANT BREATHE. TAKE IT TO YOUR LOCAL ORECK AND THEY CAN PUT A FEW HOLES IN YOUR SOLEPLATE AND THIS WILL TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE.
