I have a one year old LG flat screen TV which we have a DVD/VCR combo and a Dishnetwork box hooked to. We cannot record to VHS because when we go to watch it the picture quality is jumpy. It also does this to VHS movies we purchased. We got a new combo player thinking it was the VCR but the new one does the same. I hooked the original VCR up to an old 13 inch TV and it worked perfect. Our Dishnetwork uses coaxial cables is this the problem or is because we have high def? Thanks
How do you have the combo connection and dish network hooked to the tv ? if you have an s-video , yellow RCA jack video or component video hooked to the same input then it will act this way, because two inputs cannot be on the same video input # on the tv.
is this what is happening? or how are you connecting it?
have you tried , hooking the dish output coax cable into vcr , then the vcr antenna output to tv , or with the rca jacks( out from dish into vcr combo then audio , video jacks to tv for better video and audio quality?
also vcr/dvd combo's are sensitive to any other hook up besides directly to tv , the reason for this is to help the fight against copy right protection of dvd's

well if you want there are a couple of other things to check and the s-video only works for the dvd player and not the vcr and also requires that you have the red and white stereo audio rca jacks to here the audio , but the s-video and or yellow video rca jack cannot be plugged in at the same time , therefore using just the yellow video jack and red and white stereo audio jacks will work on the tv for both the vcr and dvd , or just the coax antenna directly to tv
try just the vcr combo coax output antenna connection directly to tv input ant.( no dish network connection ) no rf modulator
or just the yellow video and two audio rca jacks

We only have two co-axial cables hooked up to it, no RCA's. When I tried to hook up the new combo dvd/vcr I had to use a RF modulator because of the coaxial's and had the same exact problem. Thanks
I tried this but used a S-video cable instead of RCA because LG's manual said it offers improved picture quality. There was no difference. I just tried taping from tv and watching it, and had a jumpy picture - then I took that vhs tape to another vcr and had perfect picture. I've gone through all of the settings on my tv remote and couldn't find any help there. It almost seems like I am being forced to consider getting DVR. Could my Dish connection affect video quality?
