Dear Margarida, As you are connected to internet, spend sometime by scanning your computer with an online free virus checking utility. Here are two of very good ones:

Free Online Virus Scan - Bitdefender Online Virus Scannerwww.bitdefender.com/scanner/online/free.html
Free Online Virus Scanner ' ESETwww.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

Also ensure for the time being that your system antivirus is not activated. In order to do so. Go to your notification area, right click on the name of your antivirus and turn off.

Anti virus

Vingeshwar,

What do you mean by writing only anto virus? Do you wan to install a free anti virus (may not be Norton)? Then please go to www.download.com and download free AVG antivirus. I have been using it for the past over eleven years and find it suitable for home use. There are others too at that site but AVG is the most popular.

Your problem is a little hard to say. Have there been any power outtages or has you computer been powered-off rather than the regular shut-down procedure. Windows registry and programs can be thus corrupted.

Also computer viruses can disrupt programs so please run for example
Mcafee's free online anti-virus to rule-out a virus problem.
http://us.mcafee.com/root/campaign.asp?cid=45694

Even if you have an anti-virus installed, it needs to be running the latest virus definitions.

You could also try in programs accesories system tools to select "system restore" and bring back your computer to a date where you understand the problem was not happening. (Try this one last)

run netstat on the lan pc to see if telnet server is listening on port 23. look at logs on the router and pc to see if it is blocking any traffic. make sure lan pc has route back to wan

WAN

The wan port is what you hook your modem to. Wan stands for Wide Area Network, which in your case is the internet. Your house with your 2 pc's and networking equipment would be considered a Lan, local area network.

The 4 ports on the router are switch ports, when you hook the modem up to the switch instead of the wan port the modem will only allow traffic from one physical, (MAC) address to pass through, this is why only one of your pc's can access the internet. The wan port on the router has its own MAC address, so the modem will associate with the wan port and trust all traffic that comes from that port.

Finally, after you have connected the modem to the wan port, pull the power cord on the modem then plug it back in to reset it, this will force the modem to orient with the wan port.

Kaspersky - best rated this year - and has a small footprint on your computer. I personally use Avast 4 Home - it is a free application anti-virus for home users and it has done a great job on my computers (I have eight up and running all the time).

WAN 2 dissconnects

Try check with your subnets, if your subnet on your SBS is the same as your Xincom configuration and both your SBS and XIncom is acting as a DHCP server, it might cause a conflict.
