ITunes not able to burn CD's

When ever I open my Itunes I get this message. "The registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall itunes."I've tried reinstalling itunes and I get the same message. itunes does open and I can get to my library but I can't use my burner.
I have tried uninstall and reinstall of iTunes but still not working.

You already have other cd / dvd burner software on pc / laptop...use it...(can i suggest a better software than itunes for burning..unless you have this already..nero, ashampoo and / or burn4free cd / dvd)...nero has much more to place on the menu of dvd...cd (u can get creative)....this way your new version of itunes will just keep your ipod up to date (no more regs problems)

SOURCE: CD/dvd drivers missing or malfunctioning

do you have other programs that use the cd/dvd device? sometimes multiple programs will fight for rights to it.

go to the following link and download ccleaner
.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

install it and run it.

1) click on tools and uninstall itunes with that.
2) click on registry and clean the registry
3 click on cleaner and clean up the junk
4) reboot your comp
5) reinstall i tunes

Let me know :)

iTunes.exe has been set to run in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. For best result, turn off compatibility mode of iTunes before you open it.

> 1. Make sure iTunes isn't running.
2. Click Start, type regedit, then press Enter.
3. Navigate to this Registry location:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
4; Its better you clean/repair Windows registry with RegInOut.
4. Look in the main pane for a key that refers to iTunes. If you find one, delete it, then exit the Registry.
5. Start iTunes. The offending message should be gone!

Itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs/DVDs missing where can i get them? Bill

It seems that some users installing iTunes 8 on Windows systems are encountering an error message:

“ERROR: The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing… Please re-install iTunes”

iTunes uses GEAR software drivers for importing and burning CD’s & DVD’s. Re-installing (or installing the latest GEAR drivers seems to fix this problem. No reboot required for this install.

You can get the current GEAR drivers here: http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm

If this does not fix your problem download a fresh installer for iTunes here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Uninstall iTunes, reboot, & then do a fresh install of iTunes.

Hope This Help You

ITunes registry error/CD-DVD not being recognized

I had the same problem with iTunes and installing the GEAR driver fixed it. If the drive itself is disappearing then the problem is probably more than iTunes. Try updating the actual CD driver at the Dell Support Page then install the GEAR driver again.
