Sony TV has clear menu and sound, but no picture

Hello there everyone. I have a sony projection tv, model KP53V85, that went out of convergence a few weeks ago. After I researched the forums I found that the ic's were bad and caused a pico fuse to blow. I tested the six fuses and found that one fuse 11.6 and the others all read 0 ohms. So after replacing the two ics and one fuse it allowed me to change the projector convergence.
The menu is perfect now and the sound has always worked perfectly, however, there is no clear picture; it looks like your dvd player is set for channel 4 and your watching a movie on channel 3 or something. I do admit there is a small strip of solid black boarder, about a half inch, around the tv meaning it needs to be stretched and centered. But I don't think this would cause the picture to be all fuzzy cause the menu is so perfect.

Both the picture and sound work when the TV is turned on, yet the picture is distorted like a double picture and has a yellow hue to it.

Sounds like you have a convergence problem. If you go into the setup menu of your TV, there should be some settings to adjust the red, green and blue hues and re-position them so each color matches up. If this does not work or if you don't have a menu, your TV *might* have a circuit board with several plastic screws on it. These adjust the picture and it's a very tedious task to re-align each hue correctly.

My projection TV is an older model from 1995, which is probably why it has this circuit board in place of a convergence menu built into the TV.

If adjusting the convergence still doesn't work, you might need to purchase a new convergence chip.

Sony KP-57WS500 convergence drift

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal.
