Water dispenser and ice maker not working

Hello Jim czyryca - From what you are describing if the ice maker is not making ice but is dispensing water, sounds like the refrigerator has a frozen water line, faulty ice maker valve or bad component that sends power to the ice maker valve when needed. The ice maker cycles internally to call for water so I strongly suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately to assist with the repairs.

Please ensure that the water filter has been changed. If you are not receiving water to the dispenser it may also be a frozen water line and will need the assistance of a Service Specialist.

Check the water supply lines feeding the refrigerator for crimps or hard turns and even if someone put a self taping tap valve as a shut off. They tend to restrict flow. If you find a tap valve remove it and have Tee placed there with a shutoff. It also does not hurt to pre-filter water going to the refrigerator. Lowes or Home Depot have some good in line filters that you just plug feed in one end and supply to fridge on other end. If it had air in the water you would have dripping all the time and noise of air rushing out once the dispenser valve is pressed. I am checking if your model has a filter somewhere. Have someone turn water off and disconnect the water feed from refrigerator and place lin in a pan or container and then have the turn it back on so you can visually see the flow. Disconnect power so if things get out of control water does not cover the electrical parts of the refrigerator. Let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

If you hook up the water to the fridge, that means you connected the water line to the 'Water Inlet Valve' of the machine. There should be a two wire harness connected to the water valve back. Look for that....

But please note following...

Some water valves in fridges are complicated with one harness for water dispenser line valve and another harness for ice maker water line.

Also seeing a disconnected wire harness does not mean it is for the water valve. May be most likely. But be careful sometime there are test wire harness for technicians to get power readings for components.

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid.
With your model number I can find a diagram which may help.

yes where thr water go\es into the ice maker is where the problem lies, take the ice maker out and then you'll see the tuding where the water goes into the ice maker. Then take a hair drier or a shop vac reversed and thae out the utde and the water will flow after it is thawed.
