If you are smelling raw fuel i would check the fuel pressure regulator.Pull the map sensor vacuum hose off and look for fuel in the hose and also look in the air intake pipe for fuel if you see any in either of these two components then replace the fuel pressure regulator.

Where is the pcm/vcm location on 1999 chevy tahoe?

Shift the vehicle's transmission into park (automatic) or first gear (manual transmission). Turn off the engine, then rotate the ignition back to the "ON" position, but do not start the engine.

Connect the scan tool's data communication cable to the vehicle's diagnostic data port underneath the dashboard, above the foot well area.

Brookstone Pure Ion Pro clicking noise, ineffective. I understand the "sparking" is ok, but my unit doesnt "spark". The fans run, and the unit makes two different clicking noises; ...

did you ever figure out the clicking noise problem?
mine stared doing the same darn thing after I whashed the filters and inserted them into the units, I used the builted in drying setting, and thats when the problem started. I know you are not supposed to run the unit with a wet filter, thats why I put it on the dry mode first. I think I am just going to return them back to Brookstone.

Running but does not have that clean air smell.

If the unit has not been cleaned regularly or recently, that is more than likely your problem. The interior is simply covered with dust. Clean the unit according to the Owners Manual instructions and you should be getting the ozone smell again. If the unit is more than 5 years old, you may need to also replace the plaques inside. These can be purchased online from the manufacturer.

Hope this helped to solve your problem.

I have just remodeled a old condo with new toilets and I am getting a strong gas smell. How can I get rid of it. I am in Thailand and the building is 22 years old.

jajoy,

Did you connect the sanitary pipe stack to the sewer line that takes away the flushed effluent? Check to see that the pipe is connected, not leaking sewer gas, not plugged up with an animal carcass, and that the pipe extends through your roof three feet past the roof line (keeps smell out of house).

CAR DIE WHEN SLOW DOWN OR STOP AND LET GO THE GAS

i went to my mechcanic the same day my engine started to make the same loud noise that you are talking about. he said that it was the flex pipe. just this morning (5:30am 8/3/09) i went to dunkin donuts for my morning coffee and while waiting in line, my car just stopped running. like you said, when you take your foot off the gas and press the break, the car stops. no doubt about it, it is the flex pipe. im sure by now you got your car fixed but i thought that i'd share my car troubles with you :)

New house off gassing

You need to be careful of the saturation. It is an electrical apliance and can be a fire hazard if the fumes are too great. But from my experience with my Flair Classic it will diminish the fumes and smell, but will not completely eliminate it. The paint will have to cure. The unit does work wonders on smoke and musty smells though.

XL-15 Classic Living Air emmitting Foul Odor!!

Ionizers do cause a bad odor to happen. I work in the copier business and do work around machines that can cause an ozone to happen when there are ran. Copiers like ionizers can cause an ozone to happen because the air particles are being electrically charged. The smell isn't good to be breathing in as well.

Here is an EPA report about ionizers

The Consumer Products Safety Commission is going to be making a decision about the health effects on ionizers by the end of the year. Their decision can effect selling ionizers all together.

This industry should have been regulated years ago and after what happened to Sharper Image this year due to their arrogance it isn't doing the industry any favors. They went out of business because of Consumer Reports findings and tried to sue them for it.

If you really want the air in your house cleaned, the best way to do it is using a hepa filter.

Living Air XL-15 Classic - Foul odor!

Hi cant standit,

Can you control this odor by adjusting the ozone (O3) control? High levels of O3 smell obnoxious or irritating to some people; you want a fairly low concentration (~40 ppb - that's parts-per-Billion, not much).

It sounds like you've done everything else right. Have you consulted with the dealer you bought from? How about EcoQuest? If it's not the O3 level being too high, then perhaps there's something goofy with the unit. If it's under warranty, pursue that option. You should have contact infor with the unit; respond if you need it and I can post it.

Let me know.

When ionizer is on even

Hi willy,

The ionizer itself shouldn't smell. I wonder if you're smelling O3 (aka ozone or activated oxygen), or if there's a short-circuit of some kind that is causing electrical components to overheat/burn. Burning electronics and singed hair smell more alike than ozone (which isn't the same as ionization, incidentally.

Write back with more details if you can, preferably with any details about your observations.

If I can be of further assistance, let me know. If this solves the issue, please rate it accordingly.

Thanks in-advance for using Fixya.com,

Jon
