Blue Hat Toy company mp3 player cannot download new songs

Where can I obtain more information on how to use this item? I cannot get it to work and the little booklet is no help! I plug it in to the USB port the screen comes up but it will not let me place any songs on it. Can I use my itunes playlist or must I convert it first? help!

I have the same problem. I can't find any help anywhere. The mp3 file comes up and I put songs on it from i tunes but the only way it will play it is if it plays on the computer using the itunes, not helpful for using the player by itself. I am stumped and out of ideas.

Can anyone tell me how to add songs to the Little Tunes mp3 player. If I plug the usb cord into the computer, the songs I have added come up. Once I unplug it, only the factory songs are on the player. Thank you.

    Not downloading songs

  • katapyller Feb 07, 2009

Unable to move songs.  They are in MP3 format.  Trying to only move only 90 songs.  Using a mac.  Only "62 files" show to be transferring - but then only 4 move onto the MP3 Player - all "0" in size.  What's going on?

  • katapyller Feb 07, 2009

I just realized that the MP3 player show 198 MB on disk USED although there are NO songs on it.  No wonder why I am unable to move songs to it.  How do I reformat it - obviously something is wrong!

My Blue Hat MP3 is only showing 2.8 MB available, and there are NO songs on it... I'm not sure what happened!  It used to work fine.

Nothing happens at all when I plug in the USB cable. I am really disappointed as most of the songs on it are lame. I would love to be able to add some familiar songs for my daughter. Any idea where a person could get the driver for this toy?

I bought this for my twin girls for Christmas. They took it everywhere and just loved it. Somehow all the original songs got erased and I can't get any back on it. Like several other people, the screen comes up but can't get anything to download. I actually thought about buying another one, the girls miss it so much, but why waste my money on a defective product.

I just cut and paste them from my itunes library, but some reason, the some of the ones I have (I teach kindergarten and use several) show that there are 8-10 loaded on the machine, but after I unplug it and try to view the books/songs, it will only show one or two of them. They used to do more than that, so I'm wondering if they are just getting old and need to be replaced. Has anyone else had that problem?

If you are using a Mac, move to trash moves the mp3 files to the trash folder on the player. I could not "see" the trash folder on the player until I plugged it into a PC and looked at the MP3 Player in Windows Explorer. On the Mac the folder didn't even show when using ls in the terminal window. If you delete the Trashes folder it will free up memory on the MP3 Player

My daughter got one for xmas and it was easy to add songs. She loves it and her older brother wants one too.

I wish we adults could get a big one(like the old jam boxes).....cause it allows listening without headphones.
Besides being able to only select or listen to the songs sequentially, the only other drawback of the radio, that I see, is that the storage space(memory) for songs is internal 256k. It would be better to have had a slot for SD or mini SD chips.

GUEST and GPAANGEL:
Sounds like you are using the wrong type of files. If you bought the songs from itunes, you'll have to find something that converts those files to standard *.mp3 format or windows media player format.

When buying songs online, I also purchase my songs as *.mp3 format. Itunes will convert the files when added to the itune library.

The blue hat mp3 player acts like a disk only and will allow you to copy the files to it. It will not convert them.

MELANIEBECK:
You are probably putting too many songs on it. Did any work for you? Remember they have to be *.mp3 files.

What I did was... after connecting to computer. I located the drive assigned to it and right-clicked on it to see its properties. Then I knew how much free space it had(with the factory songs already on it). I had to select a subset of the songs my daughter likes and forego any that were too big.

I also copied the factory songs to my computer in case the radio goes bad, we'll still have the songs.

NOTE to all: To be able to add more than 125 songs you can probably get away with converting your music to 96 bit rate. Since the unit is so small and not very loud, you don't necessarily need the best quality of music. I noticed the factory songs are at 160 bit rate. I have most of my older music at 128 (which is suppose to be the minimum quality = to CD quality). Anything above 128 is better for higher quality sound systems. I do have my new songs stored at 196 bit rate.
When converting my kids CDs, I will convert them to 196 and store on a hard drive(as a back up to the CD). For this new mp3 player, I plan on putting music at 96 bit rate. This will allow for more music to fit on it.

Good luck.

I've never had a problem with this item. Our toddler daughter loves it and it's her favourite toy. If you don't know how to put songs on, ask someone who knows. I just burnt CDs onto our computer and went to Windows Media Player

Blue Hat toy company mp3 player won't turn on

This solution may not make you any happier, but I had the same problem. The issue is that the batteries are not sending power to the player. Before reading any further, check that the batteries are installed correctly. Anywhere there's a spring in the battery box, the negative end of the battery should be touching the spring (negative is the flat end of the battery, not the end with the bump).

If that doesn't help, what I did was to take apart the toy. Yes, this voids warranties, but I'm not willing to spend time chasing down this company for warranty service when I didn't keep my receipt. The small rubber circles on the back of the player cover the screw holes. Just get something under them and pry up until you have uncovered all 9 screws. Carefully open the case. Inspect the wires that go from the battery case to the circuit board, and from the circuit board to the on/off switch. One of these wires has probably come off because it was badly soldered. Either that, or a wire was pinched until it broke inside the insulation. You can usually see where a wire was pinched. Have someone who knows how to solder replace the suspect wires. Once I did this, my player started working again, and now I know the solder joints will all hold for the life of the device!

*WARNING! Only disconnect and reconnect one wire at a time. If you get wires reversed, not only can you break the device, but the wires the company originally used are too thin and can overheat and melt, potentially causing a fire. This is also a reason to be sure the batteries are removed when soldering...

Blue Hat Company Mp3's volume dosen't work

You may try resoldering all of the connections on the volume knob circuit board. If one of the potentiometer (volume control) connections has broken free of the board, it may not be noticeable, but may hold the component off the board just enough to cause the problem you're having. If that doesn't help, the problem is most likely in the potentiometer itself, and you won't be able to replace it easily.

(If you are going to replace the whole player, I've heard that the sweetpea 3 is a better device. My Blue Hat is still working after making some repairs, so I haven't tried the Sweetpea yet...)

Blue Hat Toy company mp3 player cannot download new songs

the player users the older mp3 format - go look in file view at the extension.  the files you want to add you need to have in that same format.  I *think* (not 100% positive, I didn't do the upload) if you just rename the mp4 to mp3s that they will then play fine
