I shot video with my Samsung phone (model SCH M828C) then transferred the video file to my PC. When I try to play I get this: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the codec used to compress the file. " Need to find and install (on my PC) the codec used to compress the video file.
Just try to download some other player programs which might contain the video codec that support your videos. Of course, it will be better if you can check the video format first and find the proper video player for it.

Have you tried a soft reset? With the phone on, remove the battery...put the battery back, restart the phone and see if that corrects your problem.

if you are worried about losing everything on your phone just sync it up with your computer and it will save all your contacts and pictures/music so after the reset you can put them back on your phone.
