Sony PS-LX300USB Turntable has poor recording quality

When i record , the recording is not clean. I have only tried to record my punk records. When I do record, all you hear on the recording is the bass and lots of treble. YOu can not hear the voice. How can I change the sound settings so that the sound can be picked up cleanly? OR what do I do to be able to record all this mighty punkyness? Is it a preset on my computer? how i control the output to my computer to get a cleaner recording?

You might have a poor earth connection on either a lead or on the cartridge. That would explain the light far away sound.

SOURCE: Sony PS-LX500 Linear tracking turntable

I think it's kind of cheap to ask someone to pay $10 for an answer to one question. Sheesh!
I haven't gotten the answer yet, but a local stereo store pointed me in the right direction. Thanks anyway.

Regards,
Tom

Have you though of using a pre-amp? You'll probably need to go turntable --> pre-amp --> soundcard input to get acceptable sound

SOURCE: Is there a mac os x driver available anywhere for

You do not need a driver for mac... just plug the usb cable into your mac... go to sound settings in system preferences and set USB to default audio input device... then install audicity... it is free and open source... play your record and hit record in audicity. done.

I just replaced the stylus on my sony PS-LX300USB turntable, but now there is a constant static on even my new records

You have either knocked the connections to the cartridge causing a loose connection, or not seated the stylus right. Or you have static build up, which can be caused by poor earthing.

Turntable runs at 45 spped when set to 33 1/3 and at 78 speed when set at 45 speed

This sounds like the belt, if it is a belt drive model, has slipped to the wrong position on the motor post. You should be able to set it back up right. As long as the belt is not worn out.
Any recordings at 45 can be converted to 78 using the software. There should be an option to do this. This applies to all other speed settings too. You can convert 33 to 45 etc using the same thing.
