Take and plug in a variable speed drill now when your generator is powered up slowly hit the trigger on the drill start it at low speeds run it for 30 seconds then give it half speed for 30 then full speed fo 30 seconds then try your chop saw
You will have to take it apart to get to the trigger. Most likely the switch broke but it could be the spring is out of place. Very fixable. You should have no problem getting a replacement trigger if it is broken.
Finally got it the normal way. Put the drill in reverse. Hold the outside ring very firmly and slowly run the drill (in reverse direction). It was stuck. After about 5 bursts on the trigger, it finally came unstuck.
sounds like your armature and field is burnt. once they have both got hot you need to replace the armature and field as well as the brushes and holders.
plug in a electric drill into the generator. start the generator and let it idle. depress the trigger on the drill with the drill set in the forward position and by hand turn the drill in the opposite direction. it should excite the generator and start the drill
If you haven't fixed it yet here is the way that I have used to solve this problem. Spray some WD-40 on the inside of the chuck. Place a shop rag around the chuck and CAREFULLY grip with a pair of channel lock pliers set the drill rotation so that it will extend the jaws and SLOWLY depress the trigger. It should move. Let me know if I can help more. When trying this DO NOT SQUEEZE TRIGGER to full RPM.
